Toshack Back In Management

Former Real Madrid boss (twice) John Toshack has returned to management. Toshack has been in charge of Real Sociedad, Swansea City and international sides Wales and Macedonia in the past, but recently his star has waned and he was most recently managed club sides in Azerbaijan and Morocco. Next season he will be working in Iran after he agreed a 3 year deal with Persian League side Tractor Sazi.

Arnason Hits Out At British Football

Icelandic international Kari Arnason has decided to leave British football at the age of 35 due to its physical demands and long-ball style. His contract with Aberdeen expires at the end of the month and has played for Plymouth Argyle and Rotherham United, but is looking elsewhere for his next contract. Arnason said: "We'll see what happens in the World Cup. I'm open to anything, apart from British football. I don't think I've got another season in me there. It's just the way football is played; they need to get with the times. They need to pass more and try to keep the ball. The teams I've played for, it's been too hectic. It's just launching the ball forward as far as you can and trying to head the ball as far as you can. You can be successful at that, but it takes a lot out of you. At 35, I'm ready for something else."

Parma Under Match-Fixing Text Investigation

Serie A side Parma have denied claims that two of their players attempted to fix a match via text message before they won promotion in a match against Spezia. Parma say that texts sent by Emanuele Calaio and Fabio Ceravolo did not contain "any sort of irregularity or malice". Federal prosecutors have interviewed the two after media claims they texted former team-mates at Spezia asking them not to try too hard.

Lyon Say Fekir Is Staying Put

The widely touted 'done deal' between Liverpool and Lyon has turned out to not be as done as all the media and social media speculators claimed. Lyon have announced that no deal has been reached between the two clubs and that they have pulled the plug on any talks. A statement on their official statement said: "Although Liverpool has been the priority of a possible transfer of Nabil... Olympique Lyonnais is delighted to be able to count on the presence of their captain in 2018-2019."

Tite Denies Madrid Contact

Brazil's head coach Tite has denied having contact with Real Madrid over their vacant head coach position, saying that he is focused on the forthcoming World Cup with Brazil. With his contract expiring at the end of the tournament, Tite has become the latest name to be linked with the Spanish giants. Tite told a pre-match press conference ahead of Brazil's friendly with Austria: "When it is an opinion, it deserves my respect. When it is put in quotation marks, it is a lie; it is a disrespectful and lying attitude. That's my word. I did not get in touch with anyone. Gilmar Veloz [Tite's agent], my friend, did not speak to anyone. I have a great respect for where I am. I know the responsibilities and the goals I have here."
