Review of the Day

Transfers

Norwich City have made a double signing. Ben Marshall has joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee. Former Celtic striker Teemu Pukki was a free agent after leaving Danish club Brondby.

QPR's former Liverpool left back, Jack Robinson, has signed for Nottingham Forest after being released by the R's.

League Two's Morecamble have signed free agent forward James Sinclair on a one-year deal. The 30 year old was playing for Ostersunds.

Chelsea youngster Lewis Baker has gone back out on loan to the Championship. Last season he had a spell with Middlesbrough, this season he will be lining up for Leeds United after agreeing a season-long loan deal.

Inter Milan have paid a £4.5m loan fee to borrow Italian winger Matteo Politano from fellow Serie A side Sassuolo. Sassuolo have spent the same fee to buy teenage Danish striker Jens Odgaard from Inter. Going out on loan from Inter is young Albanian forward Rey Manaj. The 21 year old will be playing for Albacete next season. Japanese left-back Yuto Nagatomo has completed a permanent move away from Inter after spending last season out on loan. Galatasaray have paid £2.25m to take the 31 year old on a permanent contract. Romanian keeper Andrei Radu has also left Inter on loan, the 21 year old joining Genoa.

Leo Bonatini has completed a permanent move to Wolves from Al Hilal of the Saudi Professional League. The 24 year old Brazilian forward spent last season on loan with Wolves.

Sevilla have signed Ibrahim Amadou from Lille. The 25 year old midfielder will cost them just under £3m.

Slovenian midfielder Leo Stulac has swapped one Serie A side for another. The 23 year old has left Venezia to join Parma for a fee of just over £1m.

Watford forward Mauro Zarate has left the Hornets to join Velez Sarsfield of the Argentine Primera Division.

Brazilian striker Jonatas has been loaned out to Corinthians in Brazil's Serie A from Hannover 96.

Mascherano Announces International Retirement

Unfortunately for Argentina it is a bit late, but long past it Javier Mascherano has announced his international retirement, 6 months after retiring to China in club football. It is difficult to understand how the 34 year old was still involved in the international team, despite having looked a shadow of the player he was for a few years now. However, it has taken his official retirement announcement to open up a spot in the team for someone who can help the team. Lucas Biglia has also announced his international retirement.

South Koreans Suffer Indignity On Return Home

Despite a final group game victory over World Cup holders Germany, South Korea were unable to progress to the knockout stages in Russia. That seems to have upset some in their home country as the team held a press conference upon returning to Korea, some of the fans in attendance threw eggs and (oddly) Union Jack pillows at the team. Judging by that reaction, it seems their hopes of receiving an exemption from national service for their performances at the World Cup have gone!

Brazil Face Accusations Of Doping Within The Country

The company responsible for exposing the Russian doping scandal is set to air another expose documentary on doping in sport. This time the target is Brazilian football, which one journalist involved with ARD, the company who produced the documentary, claims will expose the "widespread culture of cheating in the country with the most football doping cases worldwide." This is their second documentary on the subject, the first pointed the finger squarely at Brazilian doctor Julio Alves, who they claimed had been providing athletes with prohibited substances. The documentary is set to get its first official airing just one day before the Brazilian national team take on Mexico in the World Cup.
