Transfers

Italian defender Adam Masina has joined Watford for around £3.5m from Serie A side Bologna. The 24 year old left-back has signed a 5 year deal with the Hertfordshire club.

Greek international defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund for an undisclosed fee of just over £14m, though it is not certain that he realised which team he did join as he said: "Arsenal are one of the three biggest teams in the Premier League."

Midfielder Hakeeb Adelakun has left Scunthorpe United following the end of his contract to join Bristol City. Bristol City have sent defender Zak Vyner to Rotherham United on loan for the season.

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Steven Alzate has joined League Two side Swindon Town on a season-long loan.

League Two's Forest Green Rovers have completed their 405th signing of the summer with the arrival of Brentford winger Theo Archibald on loan for the season.

Manchester City have sold academy product Jacob Davenport to Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

Gillingham have made a double free agent signing. Former Gills captain Barry Fuller has returned following his release by AFC Wimbledon and young forward Brandon Hanlan has arrived from Charlton Athletic.

Oxford United have signed Everton left back Luke Garbutt on a season-long loan. The biggest surprise is that the 25 year old is still on the Toffees' books.

Midfielder Luke Hyam has found a new club after being released by Ipswich Town. The 26 year old has signed a 2 year deal with Southend United.

Scottish international midfielder Dylan McGeouch has moved to English football from Hibernian. The 25 year old has signed for Sunderland after 3 years with Hibs. The Black Cats have also moved to pick up Reece James, following his release from Wigan Athletic.

Swansea City midfielder Adam King has joined Peterborough United on a 6 month loan deal.

Free agent midfielder Nicky Law has joined Exeter City. The 30 year old left Bradford City at the end of the season.

German defender Felix Passlack has signed a season-long loan with Norwich City from Borussia Dortmund.

Bristol Rovers have added two to their squad with the signings of Alex Rodman and Theo Widdrington. Rodman had rejected a new deal with Shrewsbury Town to become a free agent, while Widdrington was released by Portsmouth.

Coventry City have signed non-league defender Morgan Williams following a trial with their U-23s. Williams had been contracted to Mickleover Sports of the 7th tier.

Jake Clarke-Salter has returned to Chelsea's loan army after the Blues sent him to Vitesse Arnham for the season.

Steven Naismith has returned to Hearts on loan from Norwich City again. The 31 year old spent the second half of last season on loan with the Edinburgh club.

Gabi has left Atletico Madrid on a free transfer to retire to Qatari football with Al Sadd.

Eintracht Frankfurt have spent just over £1.5m to sign Spanish midfielder Lucas Torro from Osasuna.

Former Tottenham Hotspur wunderkind John Bostock has moved to Toulouse for £630,000 from Bursaspor.

Turkish Super Lig side Kayserispor have taken Ghanaian attacker Bernard Mensah on loan from Atletico Madrid.

Spanish right back Coke has returned to Spanish football to sign for Levante from FC Schalke 04 for a fee of £1.35m.

Impressive young goalkeeper Alban Lafont has been sold by Toulouse for a fee of over £7.5m. The 19 year old has joined Serie A side Fiorentina.

Liverpool's Adam Bogdan has made a loan move to Hibs for the season.

LOSC Lille have bought left winger Jonathan Ikone from Paris Saint-Germain for £4.5m. PSG have also sold Spanish full back Yuri Berchiche to Athletic Bilbao for £21.6m.

French forward Andre-Pierre Gignac has been released by Mexican side Tigres following his surprise spell in Central America.

AS Monaco have released African pair Elderson and Lacina Traore. Elderson is a 30 year old Nigerian full-back while Traore is a forward from Cote D'Ivoir.

Lyon have spent over £7m to bring in Tanguy Ndombele from SC Amiens.

Aston Villa have released Christopher Samba and Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Juventus have picked up young Italian centre back Giangiacomo Magnani from Perugia for £4.5m.

French midfielder Alexandre Coeff has been released by Udinese.

Sandro, the Brazilian former Spurs and QPR midfielder, has joined Serie B side Benevento from Turkish side Antalyaspor.

20 year old Italian midfielder Marco Carraro has been sold for £4.5m by Inter Milan to Atalanta.

Former Liverpool stopper Pepe Reina has completed his move to AC Milan from Napoli on a free transfer. Ivan Strinic, the Croatian full back, has also joined Milan on a free, this time from Sampdoria.

Kwadwo Asamoah has completed his free transfer to Inter Milan from Juventus. Stefan de Vrij has also competed his free transfer to Inter, from Lazio.

 

Celtic Make Official Approach For McGinn

Hibs midfielder John McGinn could be set for a move to Celtic, after the reigning Scottish champions made an official approach. Hibernian have already lost Dylan McGeouch from their midfield, McGinn has just one year left on his contract, so they look unable to hold onto him.

 

Washington Mayer Sets Up The City For Disappointment

Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington DC, has declared 2nd July Wayne Rooney Day, as the long over the hill former England international joins DC United. Rooney has claimed he is here to win and has shown that desire by telling off a few academy players. That will do it then. No stopping DC Comics United now!

 

Salah Signs New Deal

Premier League Golden Boot winner Mohamed Salah has signed a new 5 year contract with Liverpool following his stellar first season on Merseyside. The 26 year old's deal will run until 2023.
