Review of the Day

Transfers

QPR have picked up free agent Spanish full-back Angel Rangel on a short-term deal. The right-back was freed by Swansea City in the summer and has agreed to join the Hoops on a five-month deal as cover for the injury Darnell Furlong, who is out for a few months with a knee injury.

Rochdale have signed goalkeeper Magnus Norman on loan from Fulham until January.

Bury have looked to the SPFL to get their new loan signing Jamie Barjonas. The 19 year old has arrived on loan until January from Rangers.

Nick Blackman has once again been loaned out by Derby County as the forward has struggled badly at the Rams since joining them from Reading in January 2016. The 28 year old will spend next season with Spanish second division side Sporting Gijon.

Manchester United goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara has joined Macclesfield Town on loan for the season.

Hearts have allowed young right-back Liam Smith to leave and join Ayr United on a one-year contract.

Kenneth Omeruo has returned to his place within Chelsea's loan army for a seventh time. This season he will be loaned to Leganes of La Liga, after previously spending two spells with both Kasimpasa and Middlesbrough and one season with both ADO Den Haag and Alanyaspor. The 24 year old has never played a competitive match for Chelsea but has managed to win 40 caps for Nigeria.

Everton's young Croatian winger Nikola Vlasic has moved to CSKA Moscow on loan.

Brighton & Hove Albion have loaned South African striker Percy Tau, who only signed for them a couple of weeks ago, to Saint Gilloise of the Belgian Proximus League, the second tier of Belgium football.

Former Liverpool forward Dani Pacheco has joined Malaga on a free transfer from Getafe.

Barcelona right-back Sergi Palencia has joined Girondins Bordeaux on loan.

Zaha Signs New Deal

Despite all the speculation surrounding him, linking Wilfried Zaha with all and sundry, the attacker has signed a new contract with Crystal Palace. He is now tied to the Eagles until 2023, giving him a chance to aim for the record of Premier League goalscoring at the Londoners. It currently stands at 23 goals and is jointly held by Chris Armstrong and Zaha. It is a big bonus to Palace, who failed to win a single game without Zaha last season, as his ability to run at defenders and fall over fresh air to win a free kick or penalty was their only attacking outlet.

QPR Appoint New Chairman

Following the resignation of joint chairmen Tony Fernandes and Ruben Gnanalingam, QPR have appointed Amit Bhatia as the new chairman. Gnanalingam has stepped down to take over Bhatia's previous role as vice-chairman. Bhatia initially joined the board to represent his father-in-law Lakshmi Mittal in December 2007, after the steel magnate bought into the London club.

Moses Announces International Retirement Aged 27

Chelsea utility player Victor Moses has ruled himself out of international football. The 27 year old has 37 caps for Nigeria but has now decided to make himself unavailable. Moses said: "I have experienced some of the best moments of my life wearing the Super Eagles shirt and have memories with me that will last a lifetime. However, I feel that now is the right time to step away in order to be able to focus fully on my club career and young family, as well as to allow the next generation the opportunity to step up and to flourish. Thank you for the memories and good luck to the team for the future." Probably a good time to step away from working with Nigeria with manager Gernot Rohr being so volatile and agreeing to guarantee caps for at least one player this summer, to allow him to gain a work permit to play in France's Ligue 1. His guarantee was the clincher in the player making a transfer to join one of Rohr's former clubs.

Man City Hit By De Bruyne Injury

Manchester City have worries over a knee injury to Belgium midfield general Kevin De Bruyne. The 27 year old playmaker suffered the injury to his right knee in training. The last time he suffered an injury to that knee was 2016, when he was forced to miss 12 games while recuperating.

Croatia Lose Another World Cup Hero

A third player from Croatia's run to the World Cup final has retired. Monaco goalkeeper Danijel Subasic has joined Mario Mandzukic and Vedran Corluka in announcing his retirement from international football. The 33 year old has won 44 caps for his country but believes it is time to hand over to a younger generation, confirming he had made the decision before the World Cup started. Subasic released a statement which read: "We all have an expiry date, and need to assess how long we can play. Maybe I could have lasted one more campaign, but that would probably be too much. In this manner, I want to allow my team-mates, who wait for their chance like I did, to make their dreams come true, and play for Croatia. They are Croatia's future. I have given my all, with honour and pride in every match. Maybe there weren't too many, but that's less important. What's important is that I am a fulfilled, happy man who played for his country and wore the most beautiful shirt in the world."

Pogba's Big Brother Is Too Big

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is not the only footballer in the family, his elder brother Mathias is also a professional footballer, though currently between clubs. Mathias, who has played for Wrexham, Crewe Alexandra, Crawley Town and Partick Thistle in the past, is a free agent and has recently been on trial with German 3rd tier club KFC Uerdingen in the hopes of earning a contract. Unfortunately for Mathias, the Germans decided he was too fat to be of interest to them, so his search goes on. Uerdingen coach Stefan Kramer said: "Mathias has a good body for a number 9, he is tall, but he still has too many kilos on his hips. Mathias could not have helped the team, he's gone again."
