Review of the Day

Greenwood Signs Pro Deal

Teenage forward Mason Greenwood has signed his first ever professional contract with Manchester United the day after he turned 17. The England U-18 international was was taken on the first team's pre-season tour of the USA after finishing last season as the academy's top scorer.

Transfers

Free agent midfielder Grant Nelson has signed for Dundee. The 19 year old was released by Rangers in the summer and has signed a short term deal with Dundee as he looks for a return to football.

Partick Thistle have finally been granted permission by FIFA to sign Souleymane Coulibaly, despite the Egyptian FA's attempt to block his move from Al Ahly. With the EFA refusing to grant an international transfer certificate (ITC), FIFA have granted a temporary one at the request of the SFA.

West Bromwich Albion have added former Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Bakary Sako to their ranks. The 30 year Mali international has struggled badly with injury in recent years, leading to his release by Palace in the summer.

Rapid Appoint New Man

Rapid Vienna have appointed a new manager ahead of their Europa League clash with Rangers. Rapid sacked Goran Djuricin at the weekend following the team's third successive loss. 47 year old former Austrian international Dietmar Kuhbauer has been appointed, after his previous side, St Polten, inflicted the 3rd defeat which led to Djuricin's sacking at the weekend.

Sancho Signs New Dortmund Deal

It seems all is working out well for England youth international Jadon Sancho, following the teenager's decision to leave Manchester City in order to move to Borussia Dortmund in the summer 2017 transfer window. The youngster currently has the most assists in Europe's top leagues with 6 assists in 124 minutes on the pitch. His success has led to a contract extension which sees his contract extended to 2022.

Cech Ruled Out For A Month

Arsenal could be without veteran goalkeeper Petr Cech for a month after he picked up a hamstring injury kicking the ball long from a goal-kick. Ironic considering the stick he had been getting for his attempts to play out from the back, the one time he does not pass it short he injures himself! It does finally give new signing Bernd 'Jay' Leno the chance to get a run of games.

Bruce Complains Of Disrespect After Cabbage Is Thrown

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has complained about the fans disrespecting him by questioning his decisions as the Holte End chanted: "We want Bruce out" following Preston North End's equaliser in the Championship game between the two sides last night. A dramatic night saw his side draw following Glenn Whelan's missed last-gasp penalty (why was he taking it anyway, I literally cannot think of a single time he has taken a penalty before), a cabbage thrown at Bruce and abuse and chants aimed at the former Manchester United defender. The draw with bottom side Preston leaves Villa mired in mid-table as they sit in 12th place.

Nantes Appoint New Manager

While Aston Villa are continuing to stand by their man, for now at least, Nantes have followed suit with Rapid Vienna by sacking their coach and replacing him this week. Vahid Halilhodzic has replaced Miguel Cardoso. Cardoso was relieved of his job with Nantes sat in 19th place having won just once this season. Halilhodzic is a club legend with Nantes and is believed by the fans to be one of the best strikers the club have ever had. The Bosnian's last job was as the national coach of Japan, being fired in April, just after Japan qualified for the Russia World Cup in the summer.

Modric Perjury Charges Rejected

A Zagreb court has ruled in favour of Croatia and Real Madrid star Luka Modric in his trial for perjury. Prosecutors had charged the 33 year old with giving false testimony in the corruption trial of former Dinamo Zagreb boss Zdravko Mamic, but the court has decided not to confirm the indictment, which means no trial can take place unless the prosecutors win an appeal. Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren also faces perjury charges stemming from the same corruption case.
