Gambia Have Complained About Eligibility Of Togo Player

Bielsa Donates Money To First Club

Leeds United's head coach Marcelo Bielsa has donated nearly £2m to the side that launched both his playing and managerial career, Newell's Old Boys. The money has helped the club build a new training facility. Bielsa said: "They are the club that formed me. I received more than what I gave to them. I'm paying a debt to them, not giving them a gift. The infrastructures of the institution help the team to prepare well. Two things are important for a team, the quality of the players and the quality of the preparation they receive."

Former FA Chairman Wants Prem Tax

David Bernstein, the former chairman of the FA, wants money taken from the Premier League to invest in the grassroots of the game, believing that the Prem takes too much money, leaving too little for the rest. Bernstein said: "It's a national disgrace. There is not anywhere near enough money at the bottom end of our game - grassroots has been neglected. We are completely out of balance in this country. The Premier League does pay some monies across to other parts of football but it is nowhere near enough. My view has consistently been that the Premier League should be levied, money should go to the FA, which would be distributed to the wider game and which would make the selling of Wembley unnecessary. A Premier League tax if you like. It is a major, major issue. It is something that should be explored and, if necessary, looked at by government."

Rubin Kazan Given European Ban

Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan have been banned from European competition for 2 seasons due to breaches of financial fair play rules. Kazan had previously made a settlement agreement with UEFA after breaking the rules in the past, but broke the settlement as well, leading to an investigation.

Russian Footballers Charged Over Attack On Trade Ministry Official

A pair of Russian footballers have been charged with assault and hooliganism, accused of attacking a trade ministry official with a chair and also the beating of a driver in Moscow earlier this month. Russian internationals Aleksandr Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev, as well as Kokorin's brother, along with a fourth man will all face trial over the incident. Video footage shows one of the footballers hitting the official with a chair in an incident which was condemned strongly by the Russian Premier League.

Shaw Signs New United Deal

Manchester United's young left-back Luke Shaw has signed a new 5 year deal with the club, as his previous contract was due to expire in the summer. Shaw has finally had a run of games after joining the Red Devils from Southampton in 2014. Manager Jose Mourinho said: "Luke fully deserves this contract. I am delighted that we are keeping such a talented young English player with a bright future ahead of him."

Man City Name Training Pitch After Hart

Manchester City have named a training pitch after their former goalkeeper Joe Hart, ahead of his return to face them with Burnley at the weekend. The England international spent 12 years with City, winning 5 major trophies with the club.

Burnley Consider Sporting Director

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that the Clarets are considering bringing in a sporting director to help move the club forward. Dyche said: "We're trying to move the club forward on and off the pitch. All of this speaks for it off the pitch in many ways, the structure and everything. On the pitch with signings and stuff like that and adding to the framework of the inner workings of the club. We feel there's a possibility of a role that would fit and that's where it's at, at the moment. We're talking about it, myself, the chairman, the board, chief executive, about how that role works at a club like this. It won't be a technical director as in one who pulls all the strings. It's more of a conduit so we're all on the same page."

Benzema Denies Kidnapping His Former Agent

Real Madrid's French striker Karim Benzema is denying allegations he attempted to have his former agent Leo D'Souza abducted, after a lawsuit was filed on the 8th October. According to D'Souza, the pair had a dispute over 50,000 euros in cash which was seized by customs at Marrakech airport in Morocco. Later D'Souza was sat out a shisha bar in Paris when a black van pulled and a childhood friend of Benzema's ordered him to get in. When D'Souza refused he was punched and there was a brawl involving other people from the bar. Benzema claims D'Souza fabricated the story saying on social media: "A relative of Benzema touches De Souza's arm, it is an abduction. De Souza is beaten up, but he has no days signed off work. De Souza says that Benzema was in the van, an idea dismissed by the investigators. Is this world serious? #Stop #Givemeabreak". Benzema claims that the money was a payment by a sponsor for Benzema's trip to Morocco in the summer and that D'Souza had pocketed it himself. He also denies that D'Souza was ever his agent.
