Review of the Day

Contracts

Wolverhampton Wanderers pair Matt Doherty and Conor Coady have signed contract extensions. The duo are both now tied to the club until 2023.

Barcelona have given manager Ernesto Valverde a one-year contract extension with the option for a further year in charge. The contract now links him to the Catalan giants until 2021.

Transfers

Former Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has signed for Derby County for the rest of the season. The 30 year old Nigeria international left Hibernian in the January transfer window and had been on trial with the Rams.

Liverpool's Brazilian midfielder Allan has joined Fluminese on loan.

Colombian striker Fredy Montero has joined Vancouver Whitecaps from Sporting Clube de Portugal on a free transfer.

And, just for Ed007, who loves him so much he named his dog after him, Yoda has signed for Ukrainian Premier Liga side Karpaty Lviv on a free. Karim Yoda was a free agent after being released by Spanish Secunda side Reus Deportiu in January.

Luiz Backs Sarri

Chelsea defender David Luiz has given his backing to underfire manager Maurizio Sarri, saying the players believe in Sarri. Luiz said: "We have had many meetings already asking if someone doesn't believe. They can say. Nobody said anything. It's because everyone believes (in it). We lost against maybe the best team in the world at the moment in Manchester City. They were better than us from the beginning to the end. We lost a few matches because it is part of the process. The teams that are at the top of the table now are ones with managers who have been there for more than three years. There is a big difference when you have already understood everything, it is much easier to play football. I think we are in the right way to still improve to become a fantastic team."

Lambert Accepts FA Misconduct Charge

Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert has decided to accept a charge for misconduct stemming from his sending off in the Old Farm derby against local rivals Norwich City, after stewards and a police officer were required to restrain him. Lambert has claimed there were mitigating circumstances and Ipswich have questioned the actions of matchday stewards. Lambert said: "I am not going to win an appeal, so I won't be going down that route, but I have had my say. I stand by what I have said, and I stand by exactly what went on. I will accept what is coming my way - whatever that is - but there was a lot of stuff that was going on underhand that was wrong and that's what I have explained to the FA."

Kondogbia Hit With Charge Over Deliberate Booking

Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has been charged with deliberately earning a booking against Celtic in the Europa League. Kondogbia picked up his booking for time wasting in the 82nd minute, meaning he will miss the second leg against Celtic.

Hennessey Contests FA Charge Over Nazi Salute

Welsh international goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey is contesting his FA charge over being caught in a photograph making a Nazi salute. Despite his legendary excuse, which claimed that he "waved and shouted at the person taking the picture to get on with it" and "put my hand over my mouth to make the sound carry", which bore no relation to the reality of the picture, it is difficult to see how anyone could believe his claim that the resemblance to the Nazi salute was "absolutely coincidental". Surely he has to be punished further for wasting everyone's time by denying it?

Ramos Talks More Bo....Nonsense

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, the king of football cheating, has claimed, ridiculously, that he is surprised about being investigated by UEFA over his booking against Ajax, despite admitting he did it deliberately to get a booking to reporters after the match. Now he is claiming he meant the foul was deliberate, not the booking.

Chelsea Charged Over Hugging Fan

UEFA have charged Chelsea after a fan ran onto the pitch and hugged Eden Hazard at the end of Thursday's Europa League game at Malmo. Despite the fan seemingly coming from the home end, Malmo will face no charges over the incident. Chelsea have also been charged for throwing of objects by supporters. Malmo have been fined over the setting off fireworks and throwing of objects by their fans.

Zaha Appeal Fails

Crystal Palace will have to make do without Wilfried Zaha on Sunday in their 5th Round FA Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers after he failed in his appeal against an additional one-match ban for sarcastically clapping the inept referee Andre Marriner following his sending off.
