Review of the Day

Contracts

Nantes have given French midfielder Samuel Moutoussamy a 5 year contract.

Reece Grego-Cox has signed a 3 year deal with Crawley Town.

Luton Town striker Harry Cornick has signed a long term contract with the Championship club.

Transfers

Ravel Morrison gets yet another chance as Sheffield United sign the former Manchester United youngster on a free transfer. Problem after problem off the field has seen the extremely talented but incredibly stupid lad get dumped by club after club until he ended up in Sweden with Ostersund for a short spell, who also released him. Since then he has been a free agent but has now found another manager willing to take a chance on his talents in the shape of Chris Wilder.

Ghana forward Raphael Dwamena has been sent to Real Zaragoza on loan from Levante. Also leaving Levante on loan is Spanish keeper Koke who has joined Deportivo La Coruna.

Stade Brest 29 have signed Romain Perraud for less than £2m from OGC Nice.

Aston Villa have signed Bjorn Engels from Reims.

Torino forward Vitalie Damascan has joined Fortuna Sittard on loan.

Napoli have sent Italian forward Roberto Inglese to Parma on loan.

Finnish midfielder Robin Lod has joined Major League Soccer as the 26 year old has signed for Minnesota United from Sporting Gijon.

Granada have released Fran Rico.

Villareal winger Alfonso Pedraza has joined Real Betis on loan.

Paris Saint-Germain have signed defender Abdou Diallo from Borussia Dortmund for nearly £28m.

Barcelona have signed young Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Eibar for less than £4m.

Atalanta have spent over £12m on Russian midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi from KRC Genk.

Nantes have paid just over £2.5m for Guingamp winger Marcus Coco.

Norwich City have paid about £750,000 for Sam Byram from West Ham United.

Leeds United winger Hadi Sacko has joined Denizlispor.

Giorgi Aburjania has joined FC Twente on loan from Sevilla.

Sassuolo have loaned out Davide Frattesi to Empoli and Federico Ricci to Spezia.

Goalkeeper Kyle Letheren has signed for Salford City on a free transfer from Plymouth Argyle.

Alex Palmer has signed for Plymouth Argyle on loan for the season from West Bromwich Albion.

Grimsby Town have taken Newcastle United defender Liam Gibson on loan for the first half of the season.

Defender Ben Barclay has joined Accrington Stanley on a free transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Cardiff City have sold Rhys Healey to MK Dons for an undisclosed fee.

Guinean full-back Ibrahima Savane has signed for Livingston pending international clearance from Ligue 2 side Beziers.

Shrews Send Grant Down To Youth Team

Shrewsbury Town midfielder Anthony Grant has been banished to the youth team to train, though the club have refused to explain why. 32 year old Grant had missed the start of pre-season training due to dental surgery but is set to return to training now, just not with the first team. Manager Sam Ricketts said: "That period has come to a close. And following that Granty will be training with the youth team. He won't be part of the first-team set-up this season due to reasons which will remain in house."

Dalman Abandons Charlton Takeover

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has given up his attempts to buy Charlton Athletic from hated Belgian owner Roland Duchatelet. Dalman had intended to leave his role with the Bluebirds to take charge of the Addicks, but the deal has fallen through, unsurprisingly as Duchatelet is an extremely difficult man to deal with.

Bamford Apologises For Dive

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has apologised for going down holding his face like he had been punched by Mike Tyson in his prime against Aston Villa in April. Replays showed little, if any contact, with Anwar El Ghazi and Bamford was given a 2 match ban. The striker now fears a reputation for milking things saying: "Once I've put that in people's minds it's going to be hard to change that. But it's something I've got to do over the next few years. Looking back, I regret it. I maintain he touched me but I milked it and made a stupid deal of it. I wouldn't do it again and it's something I have to learn from. I took a bit of stick last year from the fans. There will always be people who like you or aren't such fans (of you), and for me it's an opportunity to prove them wrong and get them on my side. If we'd gone up last year I'd have said it had been a great season, missing six months and getting 10 goals I'd have been chuffed. But because we didn't go up, it was a nightmare season."

Guinea Sack Put

Guinea have sacked their Belgian coach Paul Put due to "poor results" and claimed an "atmosphere of mistrust created and maintained by the coach between the players and the technical staff." Put has denied there were any problems within the team after allegations were reported in local media, but it has not kept him in a job.

Ampadu Set For Loan Move

Teenage defender/midfielder Ethan Ampadu, probably the brightest star in a galaxy of young starlets at Chelsea, is set to make a loan move for the season. New manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that the 18 year old, who joined from Exeter City in 2017, has been left out of Chelsea's tour of Japan so he can complete a loan move.

Cameroon Sack Seedorf

Another AFCON casualty is Cameroon manager Clarence Seedorf, who was sacked for failing to defend the title. The 'Indomitable Lions' lost out 3-2 to Nigeria in the last 16 which led to calls from the nation's sports minister for Seedorf to leave. The former Netherlands international expressed a desire to continue but Cameroon's football federation decided it was time for a chance.

Haller Taking Hammers Medical

Eintracht Frankfurt's target man Sebastien Haller is having a medical with West Ham United after the two clubs agreed what will be a record transfer of over £40m. Haller has notched 33 goals in 77 appearances for Frankfurt after managing 51 goals in 98 games at previous club Utrecht.

Leicester Hold Out For More

Brendan Rodgers has said that Leicester City have yet to receive a bid that meets their valuation for central defender Harry Maguire. Manchester United are believed to have made offers over £70m for the man nicknamed Slabhead, though I am not sure if that is because he has the footballing brain of a slab or because his head is so big? Rodgers, who has shown himself to be utterly clueless about defending throughout his coaching career, said: "Harry's a top quality player and no-one has come near the valuation to tempt the club to sell. The other club interested is a huge club, but he's a really good guy. I've been in this position a number of times and it's never easy but he's taken part in everything and hasn't showed anything other than sheer professionalism. You've seen that tonight with the 45 minutes he played."

Lookman Close To Bundesliga Move

Everton winger Ademola Lookman looks set to return to the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig, where he had a successful loan spell in the 2017/18 season. RBL have been trying to sign the 21 year old ever since that loan but were rebuffed last summer being told he was not for sale. Everton's stance has changed since then, with Toffees' manager Marco Silva criminally underusing the attacker last season. The two teams have returned to negotiations and he is expected to join Leipzig in the next few days.

Trippier Set For Atleti Move

One of the stranger moves in football looks likely to be completed this week as England international (even typing that makes me cringe at how bad the state of the international game is that players as poor as Trippier get regular games in a World Cup) Kieran Trippier is set to join Atletico Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur.

De Ligt In Turin

Ajax are set to lose their captain to Juventus, as Matthijs de Ligt has jetted in to complete a medical with the Italian giants. De Ligt scored the winner for Ajax against Juve in the Champions League quarter-finals last season.
