Kamara Gets Recall

Colorado Rapids forward Kei Kamara has been recalled by Sierra Leona after his disciplinary ban was lifted. A Sierra Leone FA statement said: "The decision has been taken after Kamara's apology on radio and social media over the weekend following his suspension by the SLFA for breach of professional conduct." Kamara has made comments on social media in relation to Musa Kamara who had said he left Trelleborgs due to the weather. Kei Kamara explained: "My comment was not directed at the SLFA nor it was intended to insult the FA, but it was instead intended to stop people from bashing at Musa Kamara for deciding to terminate his contract with Swedish club Trelleborgs and return home. In a matter of a week I'm going to be 35 (1 September), the World Cup and Nations Cup qualifiers could be my last for Sierra Leone. I really want to be part of it and help Sierra Leone football - I'll be fine even if I don't play come 2022 if we qualify because may be I may be too old then. But I just want to make sure I involve in helping the country go forward, and if I'm not helping on the field I'm going to help off the field because football is my life. Our matches against Liberia are important and we should try our best."

Former Leeds United, Everton, Leicester City, Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End striker Jermaine Beckford has retired due to injury problems. The 35 year old was at Bury but only managed to make one appearance for them last season due to the injuries. Beckford said: "My journey as a professional footballer has unfortunately come to an end. The operations I've had over the last couple of years have gotten the better of me. Football has given me all and more than I could've ever dreamed of and for all those that I have had the privilege of meeting and sharing any and all moments with, I will be eternally grateful!"

Ratcliffe Makes Nice Buy

Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos has completed the purchase of French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice. They will be joining an Ineos Football group that already owns Swiss 2nd Division side Lausanne. Ratcliffe said: "It has been quite a long journey getting here. We have looked at a lot of clubs in the manner we look at businesses in Ineos - for value and potential - and Nice fulfils that criteria. We made some mistakes at Lausanne, but we are fast learners, these have been rectified and we are already seeing the benefits. Clubs need to be successful off the pitch, as well as on it, and Nice will be no different."
