Review of the Day

Injury Round-Up

On-loan Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn has suffered a broken bone in his foot while playing for Oxford United against Accrington Stanley in League One. The 19 year old had lost his place in the full Welsh squad and had been dropped down to the U-21s. Oxford manager Karl Robinson told the club's website: "It's such bad luck for Ben. He's been showing everyone what a good player he is. He is a great lad and will listen to the advice and he is determined to keep doing what he can and come back fitter and stronger than ever."

Heart of Midlothian winger Jamie Walker is closing in on a return. The 26 year old was injured in a League Cup win over Motherwell in August but is hoping to return after the international break.

Everton midfielder Fabian Delph has withdrawn from the England squad for the forthcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria. Gareth Southgate is not expected to call up a replacement.

It has been confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris did suffer a dislocated elbow against Brighton & Hove Albion. The goalkeeper will be ruled out until January at the earliest. A Spurs' statement read: "Hugo Lloris has undergone further assessment this morning after sustaining a dislocated elbow in our match against Brighton on Saturday. The findings have shown that although surgery will not be required, our Club Captain has suffered ligament damage and is not expected to return to training before the end of 2019. Hugo is currently in a brace and will now undergo a period of rest and rehabilitation under the supervision of our medical staff at Hotspur Way."

Manchester United's teenage forward Mason Greenwood has joined their lengthy injury list and withdrawn from England U-21 duty. The 18 year old is a doubt to face Liverpool after the international break with a back problem.

Leicester Report Racist Abuse

Leicester City have reported racist comments made to midfielder Hamza Choudhury on social media to the police. A Foxes statement read: "Discriminatory behaviour has no place in football or in society. We will seek the strongest course of action against those responsible. We are appalled by these comments, which the club has reported to the police and to the social media platform on which they were made." The 22 year old was abused because of a bad tackle he made on Mohamed Salah during the defeat against Liverpool. It seems idiots are just waiting for an excuse to racially abuse anyone these days.

Bowyer Charged By FA

Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has been charged by the Football Association. Bowyer is facing two charges of improper conduct and/or questioning the integrity of the referee over comments he is alleged to have made. The incidents were alleged to have taken place both on the field and in the tunnel after his team lost to Swansea City on Wednesday.

Vela Sets New Scoring Record

Former Arsenal striker Carlos Vela's hat-trick against Colorado Rapids has set a new record for goals scored in a single season in Major League Soccer. The Mexican started the match level with Orlando City's Josef Martinez's record of 31 goals in 35 games when Martinez won the MLS Golden Boot last season. LA are now in the MLS finals after finishing the regular season 16 points ahead of Seattle Sounders.

Howard Retires

Former Everton and Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard has retired after the end of his final season with Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer. The 40 year old had announced in January that he would retire at the end of the MLS season. Howard won 121 caps for the United States and holds the record for the most saves in a World Cup game after making 15 against Belgium in 2014.

Villa Appalled By Racist Song About Their Players

Aston Villa have hit out at their own fans for a racist song referencing two of their first team players, John McGinn and Marvelous Nakamba. Villa are vowing to take action against any of their fans caught singing the song and asked other fans to help identify those responsible. "The club wholly condemns the chant. Any perpetrators will be dealt with in the strongest manner and be reported to the police immediately."
