Lingard Reveals Ole Chat

Jesse Lingard has put down his poor form this season to off-field issues with his family. The Manchester United midfielder had to take on responsibility for his younger brother and sister after his mother fell ill. Lingard explained that he went to see Ole Gunnar Solksjaer: "I felt it was best to get everything off my chest. I am normally quite bubbly and want to put smiles on people's faces, but people have seen the change in my ways. I have been down and glum, just worrying. I felt like everybody just passed all the stuff to me and it weighed on my shoulders. It was like, 'Here you go Jesse, you deal with this on your own'. I wasn't performing and he [Solskjaer] was on me all the time. He wanted more from me. He has just told me that everything will be OK. Maybe I just needed someone to say that. He said he just wanted the old Jesse back and maybe I can give him that now. Sometimes when your worries are so deep you can't function properly. Now it's about getting back to my best and I feel I can do that."

Hertha Team Walk Out Over Racial Abuse

Hertha Berlin's Under-16 team walked off in the 68th minute of a match at VfB Auerbach 1906 due to racial abuse of the players. A Hertha statement read: "We condemn racism and discrimination in all forms. In such a situation, values and a clear attitude are more important to us than victory or a defeat on the pitch. Earlier today, our U16s were forced to abandon a game in Auerbach due to multiple incidences of racism aimed at our players. There are times when football doesn't come first. Racism has no place in our society." Hertha board member Paul Keuter said: "There are situations in which football also becomes secondary for us. We have a responsibility to ourselves, to our players and also to society. We take this responsibility very seriously and that is why it was the only right decision not to continue this game, maybe this measure is a wake-up call that we all together - players, clubs, associations and fans - will finally master this problem."
