Contracts

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa will be staying with the promoted side for next season. His contract had expired in the summer, but it came with an option for a third year which it seems he will be taking up. Bielsa said: "Everything has been sorted and it's definite I will be here next season."

Michy Batshuayi has signed a 1 year contract extension with Chelsea.

FC Metz forward Ibrahima Niane has extended his contract until 2024.

Transfers

Brentford midfielder Arthur Read has signed for Stevenage on a season-long loan deal.

Gillingham have taken Celtic midfielder Scott Robertson on loan for the season.

Newly promoted League One side Swindon Town have signed goalkeeper Joe Fryer on a short-term deal. The 24 year old has not played senior football since August 2018 due to injury and had been on trial with Swindon during pre-season. He is now signed up until January.

Bristol Rovers have signed Brandon Hanlan from fellow League One side Gillingham. The Gills will receive a compensation payment for the loass of the 23 year old forward.

Middlesbrough have added Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli to their ranks on a season-long loan.

Lee Erwin has signed for St Mirren after being allowed to leave Ross County for "family reasons".

Vitinha has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season long loan from Porto with an option to make the deal permanent.

Chelsea's Belgian international striker Michy Batshuayi has joined Crystal Palace on loan for the season.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nacer Chadli has signed for Istanbul Basaksehir from AS Monaco.

Olympique Lyonnais have received about £3m for Kenny Tete from Fulham. Lyon will also get 10% of the profit of any future transfer.

Cercle Brugge have signed Portugese midfielder Leonardo da Silva Lopes from Hull City.

Andre Silva has joined Eintracht Frankfurt from AC Milan.

Pescara have signed Stephane Omeonga from Genoa.

Cagliari have taken young Italian winger Riccardo Sottil on loan from Fiorentina.

Brighton & Hove Albion have paid under £2m to sign young Dutch defender Jan Paul van Hecke from NAC Breda.

Young Spanish defender Chumi has joined Almeria on a free transfer from Barcelona.

Bayern Munich youngster Oliver Batista Meier has joined Heerenveen on loan.

Giacomo Bonaventura has made a free transfer move from AC Milan to Fiorentina.

Amiens have taken Molla Wague on loan from Nantes.

Lois Diony has made a free transfer move from Saint-Etienne to SCO Angers.

Injury Round-Up

It is a piece of bad luck for Newport County as their new defensive signing David Longe-King has been ruled out with a groin injury picked up in training. The centre-back only joined the Exiles as a free agent signing in August and has yet to make his competitive debut. Now he will have to wait, possibly up to 3 months, to play for the Welsh side.

22 year old Coventry City winger Jodi Jones has suffered his third anterior cruciate ligament injury in less than 3 years. The previous injuries were ruptures of his left knee's ACL, this one is to his right. Coventry boss Mark Robins said: "We are all really disappointed for Jodi. Jodi will be operated on by the best surgeon in Europe in the coming weeks, once the injury has settled down. He has shown his mental and physical strength to recover from injury previously, and we will support him again over the coming days and weeks and through his rehabilitation programme."

St Mirren goalkeeper Jak Alnwick is self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19. His housemate Lee Hodson, who joined Hamilton Academical in the summer, is also having to isolate for 14 days.

Napoli's president and owner Aurelio de Laurentiis has tested positive for coronavirus. The 71 year old's test returned as positive on Wednesday.

Fan Return Delayed

A test event planned for Cambridge United's League Two match against Carlisle United has been cancelled after crowds were capped at 1,000. The match was set to be played in front of 2,000 fans on Saturday, but will now take place behind closed doors. Cambridge were worried about the 1,000 tickets they had already sent out being used as thier chief executive Ian Mather told the BBC: "The concern we had was, 'what if fans come with the invalid ticket?' In the end it was decided on safety grounds we will just have to abandon the event and play behind closed doors. We were leading the way for the UK for getting fans back into stadiums in a socially-distanced way. We had a really good event on Tuesday when we played Fulham and all of the safety authorities were very pleased with how that went, so we'd had a really good start. Saturday was meant to be the next step and its not to be, not for the moment."

Scotland have also had a similar setback in their plan to re-introduce fans to football stadiums as the proposed second test events scheduled for 14th September have been pushed back to at least 5th October after a rise in coronavirus cases. The two events planned for the SPFL games on Saturday will still go ahead as planned. Those two games, Aberdeen v Kilmarnock and Ross County v Celtic, will be played in front of up to 300 home supporters. Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: "The pandemic is at this stage accelerating again - albeit, and thankfully, from a low base and not as rapidly as it was back in March and April. We have concluded that these changes must be paused for a further three weeks. The new indicative date for their resumption is Monday 5 October. However, I must stress that this remains an indicative date - a final decision can only be taken nearer the time."

Baggies Forward Releases Rap Track

West Bromwich Albion's Kyle Edwards has released a rap song to celebrate the club's promotion to the Premier League. The song is called 'Promotion Ting' and features references to the final game of the season, where they clinched promotion despite not winning, and his teammates.

Saints Announce Aussie Tie-Up

Scottish Premiership side St Mirren have announced a 'strategic' partnership with second-tier Australian side Para Hills Knights SC. The two teams will exchange players and coaches as well as play academy tours and tournaments. They will also look into commercial opportunities together. Para Hills senior co-ordinator Dale Ramsay said: "Developing a pathway for growth and resource sharing between our clubs is exciting and we believe it will be hugely beneficial for players, managers and officials to share knowledge and strengthen both clubs."

New Sleeve Badge In Premier League

Premier League players and match officials are to wear a sleeve badge reading, "No Room For Racism" throughout the new season. The Premier League's chief executive Richard Masters said: "We, our clubs, players and match officials have a longstanding commitment to tackling discrimination. Players rightly have a strong voice on this matter, which we saw last season. Discrimination in any form, anywhere, is wholly unacceptable and No Room For Racism makes our zero-tolerance stance clear."

Werder Will Not Risk Rashica

Werder Bremen are set to play their DFB Pokal game against Carl-Zeiss Jena without Milot Rashica as "the risk is too high" for a player that looks set to complete a move soon. There has been interest in signing the 24 year old Kosovo international from RB Leipzig, though they could not agree a transfer fee and moved on, Aston Villa and Napoli.
