Contracts

Transfers

League Two side Harrogate Town have made a double signing. Defender Dan Jones has joined on a season-long loan deal from Salford City, while free agent goalkeeper Melvin Minter has been given a short term contract.

After being released by Rochdale, experienced goalkeeper Josh Lillis has joined National League champions Barrow as a player-coach.

Ethan Walker has joined Carlisle United on loan from Preston North End for the season.

AFC Wimbledon have signed Hungarian defender Daniel Csoka from Wolverhampton Wanderers after a trial.

Michael Doughty has left Swindon Town for personal reasons.

After losing all three of their goalkeepers due to the coronavirus, two for testing positive and one having to isolate because he was working with the other two, St Mirren have moved to take Zdenek Zlamal on loan from Heart of Midlothian. Saints have also registered 40 year old goalkeeper coach Jamie Langfield as a player-coach to be on the bench against Hibernian.

Croatian striker Ante Rebic has signed for AC Milan from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Real Sociedad have loaned Kevin Rodrigues to SD Eibar.

Almeria have paid under £500,000 for Spanish winger Juan Villar from Osasuna.

Juventus midfielder Grigoris Kastanos has joined Frosinone on loan.

Brazilian winger Felipe Pires has signed for Moreirense from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Gabriel Fernandez has joined Real Zaragoza on loan from Celta de Vigo.

Spezia have taken Cristian Dell'Orco on loan from Sassuolo.

Injury Round-Up

Rangers were hit with 4 injuries during the game with Dundee United which they won 4-0. Nigerian centre-back Leon Balogun had to be replaced before kick off, while Ryan Jack, Brandon Barker and Alfredo Morelos all had to come off before the game finished with various injuries. Manager Steven Gerrard is now looking to make signings ahead of the Europa League game on Thursday: "I've been really clear that we need to add so I think we maybe need to try to accelerate that. Going off what I have just seen in the treatment room, there is definitely going to be two, if not three, missing for a couple of weeks. We have lists that we are pursuing but in terms of names and how close we are, it's a difficult question for me to answer right now. Leon felt tightness in his quad. Hopefully we've caught that one early. We could have risked it but there was no need as we had Fil Helander ready to come in. Ryan has a calf problem, which we'll need to scan to see the extent of that. Brandon has done a hamstring, which is normally at least a couple of weeks. And Morelos has got a gash on his knee. From the side, I was worried because it looked a lot worse than a gash. He's a lucky boy. The doctor is confident if we manage it right over the next few days we might have a chance for Thursday."

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has become the latest football figure to test positive for coronavirus. The 50 year old is self-isolating at home.

Managerial Changes

As expected, Wigan Athletic's administrators have appointed Waterford manager John Sheridan as the Latics new manager. Leam Richardson had been in caretaker charge since Paul Cook quit in July. Sheridan said: "I am really pleased to be given the opportunity to work with Leam and the rest of the coaching staff to try and provide some stability for the players in what is a challenging time for the club. For me, regardless of the situation, this is a good chance to come and manage a club that still has some very good players."

Disciplinary Charges

Despite being handed a suspended prison sentence after being found guilty of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and repeated attempts of bribery while on the Greek island of Syros, Manchester United have confirmed that Harry Maguire will still be club captain. United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer told MUTV: "He is going to be our captain. He's handled it really well and, of course, I'll be here to support him. We'll just leave Harry and his people and the process to run. For me, he is a top, an absolute top human being and has always been a positive guy with the right values. So I really hope we can see Harry performing at his best."

Hodgson Fears Losing Zaha

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson told a post-match interviewer that match winner Wilfried Zaha is looking for a move away from the Londoners. Zaha scored for Palace in a 1-0 win over Southampton and Hodgson made it clear that he would like to keep the winger, but also that he does have a price. Hodgson said: "Let's see what transpires, for me hopefully nothing. I'm enjoying working with Wilf and I'm expecting him to know that we can't let him go until someone comes in and wants to buy him. The fact is that every transfer window I've been involved in Wilf has made noises that he would like to play for a club that plays in the Champions League. But for anything to happen a club has got to come along and pay the market price. We're expecting him to accept the situation for what it is and keep playing his best football. He thinks it would be nice if a club did come in and pay that market price."
