Injury Round-Up

Newcastle United's Scottish utility player Matt Ritchie is facing a lengthy lay-off following an operation on his injured shoulder. Teammate Fabian Schar had a similar injury and operation in July and has yet to return. Newcastle manager Steve Bruce said: "It's a very similar injury to Schar, disruption of the joint, so how unfortunate are we? To have one is bad enough, but to have two in a matter of weeks is incredible."

New Liverpool signing Thiago Alcantara is in self-isolation after a positive virus test.

Managerial Changes

Major League Soccer's NY Red Bulls have made a formal approach to Barnsley to speak to head coach Gerhard Struber. Red Bulls sacked Chris Armas earlier this month and have chosen Struber as the man to replace him, with the Tykes confirming Struber has a buy out clause in his contract.

Disciplinary Charges

Cameroonian midfielder Marcel Wamba Kepdep has been arrested in Mauritius. The 27 year old, who plays for Mauritian side Roche-Bois Bolton City, tried to illegally obtain a Mauritian passport in order to travel to Europe. Holders of Mauritian passports are able to travel visa-free to the Schengen region for tourism and business purposes and stay for up to 90 days. Football has been suspended in the country due to the pandemic and many local-based players expect to lose their contracts. During an investigation into a network selling Mauritian passports to foreigners, documents featuring photos of Kepdep were discovered but they bore a different name. After his arrest the footballer admitted approaching the network to obtain a passport so that he could head to Europe.

Tottenham Hotspur's goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos has been fined £8,000 and banned from the touchline for one match for "improper conduct". The FA ruled that he used "abusive and/or insulting language" towards a match official after Newcastle United were awarded a controversial penalty for handball against Eric Dier. It means Spurs will have to find someone else to operate the board when they want to make a substitution...

The original Wimbledon FC side was forced to leave Plough Lane back in 1991.

Parker Criticises Khan's Apology

Fulham manager Scott Parker has said that he is "disappointed" by vice-chairman Tony Khan's social media apology for yet another dire Fulham performance on Monday against Aston Villa. Following the 3-0 defeat Khan took to twitter to apologise and promise to sign more players. Parker said of the apology: "It's not something I agree with but it's how he sees it. The thing I'm actually disappointed with, is how he's apologising for the performance. He shouldn't have. The performance last night was a good performance which was a group of players who have done everything they can. From 3-0 down they were still trying work as much as they can to try and get us back in the game and for that I don't agree with him."
