Injury Round-Up

Managerial Changes

Disciplinary Charges

Chelsea and England striker Tammy Abraham has apologised after friends threw him a surprise birthday party which saw him and England teammates Ben Chilwell and Jadon Sancho break virus-bubble rules. The trio breached the 6-person ruling as a group of 20 people gathered to party in celebration of Abraham's 23rd birthday. Abraham said: "I arrived home to find a small surprise gathering. Though I was totally unaware this was planned, I would like to wholeheartedly apologise for the naivety shown for the organisation and attending of this gathering. All I can do now is learn from it, apologise to everyone and ensure it never happens again." Southgate, who last week said that "we won't duck decisions" has ducked a decision to rule any of the trio out of his England squad.

Edouard Affected By Speculation

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has claimed that his striker Odsonne Edouard has not played to his best due to all the transfer speculation surrounding him at the moment. Lennon said: "I think it's apparent it's been affecting him. He's a brilliant player but we are just not seeing the best of him at the moment, I think he has about three or four more gears to come. Hopefully he'll calm down once the window shuts and come good for us." Lennon took Edouard off just before an hour had gone in the vitory over St Johnstone.

Salzburg Refuse International Release

Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg have announced that they will not be releasing their players for international duty after 3 tested positive for CV. The club said that they will be enforcing a "team quarantine" after they faced Maccabi Tel Aviv on Wednesday, who had 11 players missing through positive tests ahead of the game. A Salzburg statement read: "All international call-ups for Salzburg players in the next two weeks have been rejected."

Serie A Chaos

After Napoli had a couple of positive virus tests they informed Serie A that their local health authority had ordered the team not to travel and to go into isolation. They were due to face Juventus in Turin and Serie A refused to call the game off because they believe that the Naples Health Authority had failed to take into account the health protocol that had been agreed between Italy's health ministry and the Italian FA. The protocol states that postponements without forfeit require ten players to have been infected: "The protocol lays down certain rules that cannot be deviated from, which allow league matches to be played even in the event of a positive result, deploying players who have tested negative," Serie stated. Despite Serie A's insistence that the game was to go ahead only Juventus turned up at the stadium and the Neapolitans now face forfeiting the game 3-0. It has meant that Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz will not be able to join up with the Spain squad due to Napoli being in quarantine, joining Thiago Alcantara in missing out due to CV.
