Contracts

MK Dons goalkeeper Andrew Fisher has signed a new long-term contract.

 


Transfers

Swansea City midfielder George Byers has signed for Portsmouth on loan.

Sunderland have sent George Dobson to AFC Wimbledon on loan.

Free agent striker Zach Clough has signed for the rest of the season with Wigan Athletic just a few days after leaving Nottingham Forest. Former Liverpool youngster Corey Whelan and George Johnston have signed for the rest of the season as well, Johnston on loan from Feyenoord, Whelan on a free after leaving Phoenix Rising.

MK Dons have paid an undisclosed fee for defender Harry Darling from Cambridge United.

Queens Park Rangers have agreed a fee to allow Bright Osayi-Samuel to join Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce immediately. The winger had agreed a pre-contract to join the Turks in the summer when his contract expired but QPR have now accepted Fener's offer to take him now.

Nottingham Forest have taken Benfica midfielder Filip Krovinovic on loan.

Willian Jose has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan from Real Sociedad.

Young striker Andrea Adorante has been loaned to Virtus Francavilla from Parma.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Danish winger Jacob Bruun Larsen has joined Anderlecht on loan.

Genoa have loaned Stefano Sturaro to Serie A rivals HellasVerona.

In Major League Soccer Kekuta Manneh has joined Austin FC on a free transfer from New England Revolution.

Cagliari have taken Arturo Calabresi on loan from Bologna.

Shanghai Shenhua forward Stephan El Shaarawy has been released.

Free agent former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart has signed for Blackpool.

Celta Vigo have signed experienced Argentine winger Augusto Solari for £450,000 from Racing Club.

 


Injury Round-Up

Not technically an injury but Newcastle United right-back DeAndre Yedlin is currently unavailable for selection due to a visa problem. The American international had established himself as first-choice this season, over 4 years after arriving from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of just over £5m, but will now be sidelined for an indetermined amount of time according to Toon manager Steve Bruce: "There's an issue with his visa. I'm not sure quite how quickly it will be resolved, but there's certainly an issue there. We'll let you know when he's available.

 


Managerial Changes

Mick McCarthy has been named as the new manager of Cardiff City. The 61 year old former Republic of Ireland boss was previously managing Apoel in Cyprus until he left earlier this month.

Rafael Benitez has left Chinese Super League side Dalian Professional. The 60 year old and his staff stepped down with one year left on his contract blaming the current pandemic for a requirement to be closer to his family. Benitez had been tasked with developing a new training facility and academy at Dalian.

 


Disciplinary Charges

Inter Milan's goalless draw with Udinese saw both Inter's head coach Antonio Conte and technical director Gabriele Oriali sent off. Conte was sent off near the end of the game and Oriali after it was over as the Milanese disputed the amount of stoppage time allowed. Video footage has since been released showing referee Fabio Maresca telling Inter players and staff that "you have to accept when you don't win".

Jamaica's Record Scorer Passes Away

Former Sheffield United striker Luton Shelton has died at the age of just 35. The forward scored 35 times for Jamaica, including 4 on his debut, to hold the record for their highest-ever goalscorer. Shelton had been diagnosed with a motor neurone disease after retiring from playing in 2018.

 


Reus Hits Out At Teammates

Following Borussia Dortmund's 4-2 defeat at the hands of Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday night, Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus has hits out at the team's defending. Reus told ZDF after the match: "If we don't turn things around, it will be difficult. It's always the same mistakes that we make. It absolutely stinks!"

 


Crespo Gets First Trophy

Former Chelsea and Inter Milan striker Hernan Crespo has won his first trophy as a manager. The Argentine's Defensa y Justicia beat Lanus 3-0 in the final of the Copa Sudamericana, the continent's equivalent of the Europa League. It is also Defensa's first ever major trophy.
