Contracts

Barnsley have triggered a year-long extension to Victor Adeboyejo's contract which extends his deal until the end of next season.

Transfers

Former Leeds United forward Jean-Kevin Augustin has been dropped to the reserve team by Nantes. The reserve team plays in the fourth tier of French football. Also joining him in being relegated from the first team is Thomas Basila and Bridge Ndilu.

Major League Soccer team Orlando City have paid £900,000 to sign Silvester van der Water from Heracles Almelo.

AS Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile has confirmed that he rejected the opportunity to join Manchester United last summer saying: "It was the right choice. First off is that I have not enjoyed good seasons since I have been at Monaco. We played to stay up and so now I am really experiencing being at the top of the table and I think that continuing with the club that trained me was the right decision and this is being proved by the season that we are having."

The former agent of Marco Verratti has claimed that Paris Saint-Germain forced Verratti to fire him in 2017 after he advised the Italian to move to Barcelona. Barca were keen to sign the PSG midfielder and, according to Donato Di Campli, Verratti favoured the jump to Spain, but was pressured into appearing in a video to say he was happy in Paris. The Parisiens then went out and splashed out big on Neymar from the Catalans and Verratti decided to stay and fire Di Campli.

The agent of Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland has told the BBC that just 10 teams in the world could afford the striker. Mino Raiola said: "Only a maximum of 10 clubs can afford to buy him and give the platform you would like after you've been in Dortmund... and four of those clubs are in [England]. I don't think there's a sports director or trainer in the world who would say 'not interested'. It's like saying: 'Is there a Formula 1 team who would not be interested in having Lewis Hamilton?'"

Injury Round-Up

Sad news for legendary former Scotland international Gordon McQueen who has been diagnosed with vascular dementia. The 68 year old was an accomplished defender with both Leeds United and bitter rivals Manchester United as a player. A McQueen family statement read: "As a family we felt it was important to let people know, particularly if raising awareness can help others in similar situations. Whilst as a family we've found it hard to come to terms with the changes in dad, he has no regrets about his career and has lived life to the full. He had unforgettable experiences in his playing days with Scotland, Manchester United and Leeds United, and also took so much from his coaching and TV work in more recent times."

Bayer Leverkusen defender Lars Bender has been ruled out for the rest of the month after knee surgery on his right knee.

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is back in full training.

Managerial Changes

Nigel Pearson has taken charge of Bristol City. The 57 year old has been out of work since being sacked by Watford last season and will replace Dean Holden until the end of the season.

Disciplinary Charges

Hertha Berlin manager Pal Dardai has criticised Matteo Guendouzi. Dardai told German media: "It's like puberty for him, he's kind of a rebel. He has to work and learn like an animal. In training, I always stop these kinds of duels (like the one where Guendouzi lost the ball for Leipzig's second goal) because you can't fall to the ground like this. And, afterwards, he's mad.

Toffees Get Stadium Approval

Everton's planning application for a brand-new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in Liverpool has been approved by the city council, despite the objections of Historic England. The club hope to begin holding matches at the 52,888 seater stadium by 2024. They have also been given approval for their outline plans for the site of the current Goodison Park stadium.
