Contracts

Walsall midfield duo Emmanual Osadebe and Sam Perry have signed contract extensions.

Nick Townsend has signed a two year extension to his Newport County contract.

Oxford United academy graduate Sam Long and experienced goalkeeper Simon Eastwood have agreed new three year deals.

Ched Evans has extended his Preston North End deal until 2023.

Transfers

Former Celtic midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has moved to Shenzhen on a free transfer from Jiangsu.

San Antonio have added free agent French full-back Mathieu Deplagne to their squad.

Injury Round-Up

Cardiff City defender Sol Bamba has been given the go-ahead to return to light training with the squad as he continues his battle against cancer. The 36 year old was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and been undergoing chemotherapy, but has revealed his "pure joy" at being able to return to training.

Managerial Changes

Forest Green Rovers have sacked their manager Mark Cooper. Cooper had been in charge for almost five years, leading the club to promotion to the English Football League in his first season. The vegan club is currently sat 6th in the League Two table after a run of six games without a win, the last four all defeats. The club's Under-18s manager Jimmy Ball will step up to take temporary charge of the first team.

Southend United have brought in Phil Brown as their new manager to replace Mark Molesley. Molesley took charge in the summer after Southend were relegated to League Two but has been unable to turn the club's fortunes around and leaves with the Shrimpers in 23rd place. Brown was offered the job earlier in the season, but rejected it as he was working in India and the pandemic made travel difficult, plus it would have required Brown to quarantine. Brown previously led Southend to League One in his first spell at the club as manager.

Billy McKinlay has left Stoke City by mutual consent. Scotsman McKinlay was assistant manager to Michael O'Neill having worked with him at Northern Ireland. Before working with O'Neill, McKinlay had been a part of David Moyes coaching staff at Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham United.

Disciplinary Charges

Leicester City dropped three players at the weekend for the defeat to West Ham United after the trio breached pandemic protocols by attending a party in breach of the "football bubble". James Maddison, Hamza Choudhury and Ayoze Perez will all be in contention for an immediate return to the team on Sunday in the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton according to manager Brendan Rodgers.

Dundee United Report Loss

Despite continued investment from the chairman Mark Ogren, Dundee United's accounts have revealed a £3m loss. Even with the impact of the pandemic, turnover increased to almost £800,000, an increase of 25%. Gate receipts were up 37%, despite four home games being cancelled during the accounting term.
