Injury Round-Up

After a reckless, and needless, challenge by Villareal's Fer Nino in a friendly match, Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana had to be carried off the pitch. The 20 year old centre-back will now need a scan to assess the scale of the damage, though he revealed on social media that he has suffered a fracture to his fibula (calf bone).

Managerial Changes

Former Manchester United and Barcelona manager Louis van Gaal has once again been appointed as manager of the Netherlands national team. This will be his third spell in charge of the Dutch and his first job since being sacked by United in 2016.

Disciplinary Charges

Brighton & Hove Albion have been charged by the Football Association over "several breaches" of their regulations surrounding agents. They have been charged with concealing or misrepresenting "the reality and/or substance of any matters in relation to a transaction" between January 2015 and January 2018. Brighton stated that they "identified and self-reported to the FA a limited number of historical administrative errors" and are "openly co-operating" with the FA over the problem.

La Liga Sells Shares

Spain's La Liga has reached an agreement to sell 10% of itself to international investment company CVC for 2.7bn euros. A league statement read: "The transaction is expected to further drive the global growth of LaLiga and its clubs, continuing the league's transformation into a global digital entertainment corporation." It also revealed that 90% of the money, around 2.3bn euros, will go directly to the clubs. It is expected that La Liga's clubs, such as financially stricken Real Madrid and Barcelona, will receive over 250m euros each from the deal, though the final distribution model has yet to be agreed.
