Transfers

Free agent former Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United striker Daniel Sturridge has signed for Australian A-League side Perth Glory.

Another free agent, in the shape of former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Roderick Miranda, has also joined the A-League. In the centre-back's case, it is Melbourne Victory that have clinched his signature.

Cheltenham Town have signed free agent former Arsenal youngster Dan Crowley on a short-term contract. The 24-year-old, who was released by Birmingham City at the end of last season, is contracted until January.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool defender Steven Caulker is set to transfer his international allegiance to Sierra Leone. The 29-year-old has one cap for England in a friendly defeat to Sweden in 2012, as well as playing for Great Britain in the 2012 London Olympics. Caulker, who is now at Gaziantep on loan from Fenerbahce, has been called up for the first time for the October internationals.

Injury Round-Up

Nottingham Forest will be without defenders Jordi Osei-Tutu and Loic Mbe Soh for at least a month. Osei-Tutu, who is on loan at the City Ground from Arsenal, is "nowhere near" a return to action according to new Forest boss Steve Cooper and is currently back at the Gunners receiving treatment on his hamstring injury. Former Paris Saint-Germain youngster Soh has been ruled out for a "month to five weeks" after picking up an injury in training.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford returned to full training on Friday, for the first time since his shoulder surgery.

Managerial Changes

Newport County manager Mike Flynn has stepped down from the job. The 40-year-old had been in charge since 2017.

Disciplinary Charges

Williams Sets New Mark

Athletic Bilbao attacker Inaki Williams has set a new La Liga record after playing in his 203rd consecutive match in a 1-0 win over Alaves. The record was previously held by former Real Sociedad defender Juan Larranaga, who managed 202 in a row between 1986 and 1992. Williams started on his own run on 20th April 2016.

Prem Players To Travel

Fully vaccinated Premier League players will be allowed to travel to represent their countries in October's World Cup qualifiers in red-list countries. There will be "bespoke facilities" for them to quarantine for 10 days on their return to the UK.
