Injury Round Up

Managerial Changes

Salford City have sacked manager Gary Bowyer and his assistant Billy Barr after the club missed out on the play-offs. Bowyer lasted 14 months, a big change after the club went through 4 managers last season.

Wayne Brown has had his interim role as head coach made into a permanent position by Colchester United. It was his third spell as interim boss, leading the team clear of a relegation battle after taking charge in January.

Disciplinary Charges

Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League has suspended all its matches following fan violence at their biggest fixture of the season. The game between Highlanders and Dynamos was abandoned due to incidents including the referee being attacked by a supporter, perimeter fences being pushed over and the net of one of the goals and the posts being vandalised by Dynamos fans after the Highlanders went 1-0 up. Dynamos were protesting about a challenge on their goalkeeper when the violence took place. Zimbabwe are currently suspended from international football as well, due to a FIFA ban for government interference. This is the second fixture to be abandoned this season due to fan violence, the first was due to Highlanders fans invading the pitch following a disputed penalty being awarded to FC Platinum.

A man was arrested after a fan head butted Sheffield United captain Billy Sharp at the end of their Championship play-off semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest. TV footage showed a supporter race at Sharp during a pitch invasion, leaving the former Forest striker in need of stitches according to his club. Blades manager Paul Heckingbottom said afterwards: "We've seen one of our players attacked. He's shook up, bleeding, angry. Bill was minding his own business off the pitch, trying to get our players away. He was blindsided, it was cowardly. He was knocked to the ground [and required] stitches, he was shook up." Sharp did not feature in the game due to injury. Forest have already stated that the offender would be banned from the City Ground for life.

Rams Contracts Exchanged

The takeover of Derby County by Chris Kirchner has taken a huge step forward after the administrators of the club have exchanged contracts for the sale of the club with the American businessman. Kirchner will take over funding the club's business from next week. The English Football League have given the takeover conditional approval with the proviso that a deal must be in place for a lease on the club's Pride Park stadium by 31st May.
