Everton v Sheffield United Match Player Ratings

Not too sure what to make of today's Everton v Sheffield United game as I know we are only going to improve with the players that are due to come into the side.

That being said, we should have won that game today. Too many times our players make the stupidest of decisions, primarily when we broke on Sheffield and had 4 on 2, Danjuma had the ball and could have easily slipped Beto in, who then would have had the option to drive in on goal or slip the 2 lads to his right in. Danjuma decided to go alone and hit one into a defender. Just an utter basic error, which is why we don't win football matches. We have too many players who don't think about the greater picture and the objective of the team getting 3 points.

Pickford - didn't really have much to do. Could do nothing for either goal and saved a point for us at the death with a fantastic double save.

Patterson - saw one poster after half time slate him. I think he has been very poor in the first few games but today, he fights Beto for MOTM.

Tark - okay. Thought he got done a few times squared up. Archer shouldn't have got his second away so easily.

Jared - never a booking. Had a solid game. Uses the ball well and looks assured in defence and possession. Comfortably our best cb and I can see why top clubs are sniffing.

Young - careless in possession, think he needs to play on his stronger side. The way he receives the ball at times allows the opposition chances. Will get punished against the top wingers.

Gueye - not much to say.

Doucoure - wasteful in possession as always. No creativity but applies himself well.

Onana - I think I've sung his praises more than most on here but was disappointed with him today. He should have got out to the cross with more urgency for their first and seemed to be jogging around the pitch. Not good enough.

Garner - can't knock him as he is not a RW. Play him in his favoured position!

Danjuma - seems soft to me. Slows the play down when it needs speeding up. Was very poor when he should have played Beto in to put us 3 on 1 but decided to shoot him self and just hit the ball into the man. He scored yes, but for me an average performance.

Beto - refreshing to see someone have so much passion and desire to compete and make things happen. Strength is evident. Hold up play is evident. Has great feet and nothing is a lost cause. In a team with more direction and purpose, he would have a field day. Unfortunately for him he plays with fodder. Got tired towards the end of the second half which is to be expected. The lad is only going to get better.

Think it is absolutely atrocious that McNeil came on as a RW. As soon as he got subbed on I knew where he was going. It is clear that he is not the same player on the right, the stats since he has been here prove as much. Play him on the left and switch Danjuma over or put him in the 10. McNeil is unequivocally a Left sided player. This just typifies us, the history is there to show us that McNeil shouldn't be on the right, yet we still show-horn him in there.

No disrespect but Sheffield are dreadful and we should have put some daylight between us today. We have plenty of talent to come into the fold and help us but 3 points were dropped today and a draw cannot and should not be seen as a good result.

It is absolutely criminal they we didn't get somebody in on deadline day to help us create. It is clear that we really are skint. Simms, Smith, Iwobi all sold and Beto and Yousef brought in.

This owner and board has ran us into the ground and it is an utter disgrace. I think we will get much better and have enough to survive, but what a travesty that Everton football club has that as its objectives for the season.
