Football News: Cool heads must prevail at Manchester United

Cool heads must prevail at Manchester United

Cool heads must prevail. In the midst of a media frenzy and a minority of supporter tantrums, cold, calculated decisions must be made.

The Manchester United football structure is not yet in place, the new CEO does not arrive and until the summer, a new DoF has not even been appointed. If Ineos want to implement tangible change, they must fill these roles with best in class experts. Give them the time to evaluate the Club, set the culture and implement their philosophy.

The debate almost needs to move on from EtH to a certain extent. If a decision is made to sack the manager and appoint someone else, who will have made this decision? SJR, a businessman? SDB, a cycling enthusiast? Hardly experts in the field of football management? Where is the accountability?

The Club has been in the mire for over a decade! A laughingstock, an amateurish organisation ran by bankers and fools. A leaderless conglomerate, preoccupied by brand rather than football. A regime that fostered a rotten culture and harboured then empowered player power. They nurtured a squad of over paid, egotistical charlatans which they allowed to ride rough shot over a number of managers with zero accountability or consequence. A millionaire's cesspit of pampered primadonnas with inflated egos and fragile temperaments.

EtH has had to carefully manoeuvre between incompetent decision makers and a temperamental playing squad. Maybe he was doomed to failure like all the others before him amidst such a toxic environment. If Ineos were in any doubt about the size of the task in hand, their eyes should be well and truly open.

The manager is on the brink, the Mancunian Mother Teresa and highest paid star has checked in again. How do you solve a problem called Marcus Rashford? Now vilified by ex professionals, United legend and fans alike. The Saudis have teeth that bite back, seemingly more than happy for their ex CEO to spend the next 18 months tending to his garden.

What Ineos do next may just define their tenure? This is a time for critical thinkers, elite strategists that can navigate through the fog. Without the necessary structure in place, the Club should refrain from making important decisions until they are in place. The temperature will rise considerably again come Sunday. How Ineos reacts will give us a glimpse into the future.
