Football News: The Next Glasgow Rangers Manager Will Need Time

Wasn't going to bother posting, but I'll say this before I disappear until the new season starts.

GVB got us to a European final, in that summer we lost Aribo and Bassey - both were never really replaced. Our recruitment brought in Davies, Yilmaz, Matondo, Colak, Cantwell, Raskin, Lawrence, Souttar, Tillman, the main crop I've listed from that window. I reckon GVB needed another window and may have had us playing decent football in hindsight.

Michael Beale was hopeless and should never have been offered, yet alone given the job. Philippe Clement again inherited a squad just not good enough and recruitment hasn't been great for quite a while

Even if Knutson came in to this squad, i don't see him winning the league with this squad either, they just don't have it in them to play at a high standard every game. For any new potential manager to have any sort of chance to have fans back him, he's going to need a squad of players fit and ready to play and fight. So the majority of the first team will need to be replaced.

Wish we would get away from blaming everyone else, it's our own fault - chasing managers who have been given very little in terms of quality to coach. First and and foremost we need to get the player recruitment correct.

Barry was offered the manager's job until the end of season because fan pressure on cCement was too much, so the board had to act. I can honestly see it happening again if player recruitment continues to let us down. The new manager could easily get hounded out as well, no matter who it is.

Most posters on rangersrumours.co.uk haven't been happy with a manager in years apart from Steven Gerrard winning league title 55 - he's now deemed a failure for 1 trophy in 9. GVB: 1 Europa league final and 1 cup - failure and sacked. Clement: 1 cup - failure and sacked.

Success will only come when we get a decent playing squad. We gave Gerrard just over 3 years and it might take that amount of time with the new manager to get us back, but if he gets no time, how's it ever going to happen?

If Knutson comes in, in the summer and has no success by the end of 2026 do we call him a failure and move him on too? I can only pray the new guy is a decent manager and he gets a decent playing squad. I hope the 49ers give someone time and the resources to be able to do a good job. But prior to that, I hope the takeover gets completed - god help us if it falls through.

Maybe time to reflect on the club's overall performances and decisions over the past number of years and critique that part and see what we can learn and how we will move forward to be successful and sustainable.

Maybe time to stop nullifying every manager and I include myself and look for a brighter future, which is unfortunately going to take time if we want it done right.
