Football News: My Current Thoughts On Manchester United
Here are my current thoughts on Manchester United.
1. Biggest problem in my eyes is that Ruben Amorim (RA) has a formation but not a true plan. If he has one, I haven't been able to understand or see it.
2. I know it's hindsight, but we would have been much better off letting Ruud finish the season and then RA coming in. It feels like Ruud won more Premier League (PL) games.
3. It's a tough call for the board to make. Stay with RA and help him bring in some of 'his' players, but then run the risk of him not working out and we're stuck with certain players again.
4. Big debate on who should go and stay as far as players go. It's a crap shoot and there are many different opinions. I'll only suggest those that have to go.
a. Onana - pure liability at the back.
b. Shaw - injury prone and only knows how to pass backwards.
c. Rasmus - can't score if the other team leaves.
d. Dalot - brings nothing to the team.
e. Cass - lost mobility, but I wouldn't be against keeping him as a sub role player.
5. One of the biggest problems I see is the speed at which this team plays, but in their case doesn't play. Most games I watch in the PL, the opponents are going 100 miles per hour while United are still in first gear going about 10 mph.
6. Another big problem is our inability to make a pass over 5 yards, unless it's the back three simply passing to each other in our own half. The goals Tottenham Hot Spur got was Bruno passing right to a Spurs player and then not trying to win it back.
7. I really want RA to succeed, but not sure he can in the PL. Rasmus Højlund must have photos of RA doing something wrong for him to be picked in the first 11 each week. After watching him not score, I would have played Obi more or even Zirkzee can hold the ball up. His selections have been questionable and that's being nice.
As all have noted, this is going to be a telling summer window. Let's hope they get it right, but they haven't shown the ability to do that, so I'm not optimistic.
