Football News: Is This The Worst Transfer Window In Celtic's History
I have to say, that, like many Celtic supporters on this forum and I'd imagine, around the country / world, this morning, I'm almost lost for words on the back of the most embarrassing transfer window in our club's history. This current board have worked hard to plumb new depths and DD along with Nicholson, have succeeded.
Everyone could see what was required, the positions that needed to be strengthened and the manager stated in every pre and post match interview how important it was to get quality players signed. We've now been left with no recognised strikers, let that fact sink in - No recognised strikers.
The three strikers currently in the Celtic squad have scored 2 goals between them and it could be argued that at least two of them, possibly all three, were intended to be sent out on loan at some point during the summer window.
After a very late, 11th hour interested in a promising player, Kasper Dolberg, who rejected the lure of the disco lights for the Amsterdam Arena, we resorted to our ever so familiar headless chicken act of trying to sign anyone, any name whatsoever.
As it turned out at least one or two of those players, that few have heard of, who the club were never interested in two months ago, also rejected the opportunity of playing in the East End of Glasgow.
Where does that leave us?
We've now got more wingers than ever before, none of which to date can put the ball in the box for a striker to score and even if they could, we don't have a striker to perform that task.
A previous player, the striker, Inneacho has been released by his club as they wanted rid of him due to the fact he cannot score goals, has suddenly become a striker of interest. Well, he's free and our board loves anything free.
With tens of millions in the bank, yet again, this board have led the manager and supporters on the annual transfer window merry dance.
We might well sign Inneacho and he may well do a job for us, Kenny or Yamada may step up and bang them in and I might just jump out the window and go up the way. The disconnect of this current board, not only with the supporters, but with the manager, who they've made a fool of for the second time now, is unforgivable.
They haven't been asleep at the wheel on this occasion as the car never moved from PL's heated driveway.
