Football News: Liverpool v Crystal Palace Review

Liverpool v Crystal Palace Review

I'll start with the positives. Liverpool FC had straight wins up until yesterday, still top of the league though and if it weren't for Alisson, the game could have been 5-0 by half time. He is the only player that can walk off the pitch with his head held high!

Now onto the negatives and there are quite a few. Bradley was poor. I have never rated him as highly as some of our fans do. He is an okay player but what he does have on his side is time, given his age. Bradley being bad was compounded by the fact his replacement in Frimpong was equally as bad. Now onto the other full back Kerkez. He needs to remember the player he was at Bournemouth because so far he has been underwhelming to say the least. I'm not worried because he has just joined, is only 21 years of age and has proven he can perform in this league at his previous club, but he needs to be better.

As for Konate, another player I have never rated as highly as some others do. It was almost as though he was competing with Bradley, Frimpong and Kerkez as to who will be the worst player out of the backline and congratulations, he won. You just don't know which Konate will turn up, or should I say you do depending on how you look at it. He will have three okay performances, sandwiched by a couple or one standout performance, followed by 3 horror shows, rinse and repeat. His inconsistency is not the sole reason for the defence being susceptible as it is but it is a major contributing factor.

The curious case of Mac Allister - Does anyone actually know what the issue is? Not just talking about his form but whatever this mystery injury he had at the backend of last season that dragged through summer and is why he looks a shadow of himself during this campaign?

Now onto the attackers. Salah, Gakpo and Wirtz need to find their form. Ekitike is the only attacking player that has not only performed well since the start of the season but has regularly scored. I won't included Isak in this because he missed 4 months of football and is essentially doing his preseason during an actual season.

Now onto the manager. Slot got the tactics wrong today IMO. Lined up our team with no width against Crystal Palace who play with wings backs that get up the pitch. We then got somewhat control, or should I say some kind of ascendancy for around a 20 minute period when Szobo went to right back. But then Slot undoes that by bringing on Frimpong and putting Szobo back into midfield.

Now let me make this clear, I trust Slot to get the attackers to click, that's never in question. I also trust Slot to steady us at the back because right now, to say we look susceptible at the back would be an understatement. That being said, he needs to get these issues fixed fast and he will. Onwards and upwards!
