Football News: My Take On Chelsea's Season

Here's my take on Chelsea's season. We failed to upgrade at center back. Chalobah and Tosin have been woeful. Enzo has been terrible. I know he's scored a few goals, but overall, he looks miles off the pace. I'm truly concerned about why he seems so sluggish.

We've been very unlucky with injuries-Delap, Palmer, and Colwill have been huge losses. Delap needs to take his chances when he gets back. Garnacho is a dud, Gittens is too raw, and JP hasn't done much since the Club World Cup, let's be honest.

We make mistakes every game and gift teams chances or goals. Maresca has made some woeful decisions, but also some good ones. To be fair, he does seem to be learning.

As for Santos, I have no idea what he offers when he plays. To be honest, I'd seriously consider a big bid from Saudi Arabia for him. That said, I'm also open to seeing if he can step up a level-I'm not writing him off at all; that's just my opinion.

We basically wasted another fortune and another summer on young potential, and we're in the same predicament as we have been for the last four years: no experience, no leaders.

We have a poor keeper group overall, but I'm pleased with Sanchez-I think he's been superb so far. I'd have him and Penders next season. Jorgensen has been brutal - another waste of money.

On the positives: Acheampong, Estevao, Caicedo (he's a beast), Cucurella looks a lot better in the last few games, James is being managed very well and has been playing strongly.

Tosin, Trevoh, Garnacho, and Gittens have been poor, except for that midweek Champions League game where Gittens played well. I'm a big fan of JP, but he's been really poor. Neto has been his usual busy self and I'm a fan of his as well.
But i'm on the fence about Santos.

I think we'll be lucky to get top six. I'm not being negative, but we're dropping points to beatable bands against lower opposition. We still have to go away to every big team, and we're playing poorly.

Will keep watching and supporting. I don't like knocking the team, but we've been really poor, lacked discipline, and made error after error. The two goals today were embarrassing.

Next season, we need to buy a top center back and have him rotate with Fofana and Colwill-not Tosin and Trevoh; they're just not good enough. That's just my opinion, please don't batter me with negative comments, guys.

Guiu has done well and worked hard, but he doesn't look like he's going to be a 20-goal-a-season striker yet. We also need to get Penders back and rotated with Sanchez, and we'll be doing okay keeper-wise.

We can assess the striker situation at the end of the season, depending on whether Delap has stepped up or not.
