Review of the Day

Transfers

West Bromwich Albion have signed an attacking full-back, a complete turnaround from recent signings just by virtue of being attacking, as they look to bounce straight back to the Prem. 25 year old Conor Townsend has joined the Baggies for an undisclosed fee from Scunthorpe United.

Scotland international Barry Douglas has left Wolverhampton Wanderers to join Leeds United for an undisclosed fee of just over £3m, Leeds' first signing under new boss Marcelo Bielsa.

Manchester United youngster Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has joined Scunthorpe United on a season-long loan. The left-back's career has been going backwards in recent years.

Free agent goalkeeper Ben Wilson has signed for Bradford City. The 25 year old was released by Cardiff City in the summer.

Cheltenham Town have signed forward Liam McAlinden to a 2-year deal. The 24 year old striker was a free agent after being released by Exeter City.

Mitrovic Fee Agreed

Fulham have agreed a fee for Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Newcastle United striker spent the second half of last season on loan with the Cottagers, playing an integral role in their promotion back to the Premier League, but the two sides had been struggling to settle on a fee for the Serb forward. With 12 goals in 17 appearances during his loan spell, Newcastle were looking for a decent return for his sale and have no settled on a fee. The 23 year old has left the Toon's Portugal training camp to fly back to the UK ahead of a medical.

Nigerian Coach In Bribery Investigation

Salisu Yusuf is facing allegations of bribery after being filmed taking cash from men pretending to be football agents. The money was given in return for the selection of 2 players in a continental championship. Yusuf was the assistant to Gernot Rohr in the Nigerian 2018 World Cup set up.

Mexico Coach Quits

Mexico's manager Juan Carlos Osorio has quit after 3 years in charge of the country. The 56 year old turned down a contract extension after leading Mexico to the last-16 of the World Cup. He had suffered with chants of 'Osorio Out' throughout games in the build up to Russia. Osorio has expressed an interest in moving into European football.

Matic Set To Miss Season Start

Manchester United plans have been hit by an injury to key midfielder Nemanja Matic. The Serbian picked up an injury during the World Cup which was not cured by rest and he has had to have surgery to fix the issue. Man utd manager Jose Mourinho said: "Matic came from the World Cup with an injury and the time he had to rest on holiday was not enough to resolve the problem. He went to Philadelphia for a top specialist and he didn't leave the clinic. He immediately had surgery."

Arsenal V PSG Sums Up Modern Football

Nothing sums up modern football like the moment in Arsenal v PSG when the pre-match coin toss was replaced with a credit card toss instead. I really have no words. I just give up.
