Cobblers Sack Austin

Northampton Town have sacked their manager Dean Austin with the club hovering just above the drop zone in League Two, with just one win this season so far. The Cobblers were relegated from League One last season with Austin only replacing previous incumbent Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in May. That is manager number 5 who has left the club since they won League Two in 2016.

Rapid Parting With Manager

With Rapid Vienna set to visit Ibrox to take on Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday they decided to sack manager Goran Djuricin. The Austrians have lost 3 league games in a row and managing director Fredy Bickel pulled the trigger saying: "It's the right step, no matter how difficult it is and how much it hurts. I have an idea in my mind which coach the team needs now. It's a smart and sensitive team, but I do not want to say too much at the moment." Djuricin was only promoted from assistant in 2017 and led the Viennese side to 3rd in the Austrian Bundesliga last season.

Colin Admits The Obvious: He Does Not Have A Clue

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has admitted he does not "have a clue" how to improve the Bluebirds' hopeless defence, after his side conceded 16 goals in their first 7 Premier League games. As always 'Colin' has shown himself to be totally out of his depth in the top flight without the intelligence or understanding of anything other than thuggery to take a team further. Warnock said: "At the level we are talking about, we can't be conceding goals like that, Burnley only had two opportunities. But we make errors and they punish you at this level. We could have taken more opportunities too. We can't get much more out of these players, the effort was definitely there. They have done the best they can, but it is a hard, cruel game sometimes. That is life. They had two shots and you can't concede goals like that. We didn't get the rub of the green. We made errors and they punished us, I was disappointed with both the goals. How do I fix us looking vulnerable? I haven't got a clue if I am honest. We can't work any harder than we do at defending. I can't be on the pitch to tell them what to do. It was a culmination of errors really. You can go through everything, but at the end of the day Burnley had two chances and scored two goals. That is why they finished seventh last year when they had a lot of 1-0 wins."

Montpellier Game Marred By Fan Trouble

Montpellier's routine 3-0 win over local rivals Nimes was marred by a couple of incidents on Sunday. The pair have a bitter rivalry with Nimes fans stealing a banner from Montpellier's stadium earlier this year. In the 29th minute, as Montpellier fans celebrated the second goal, a metal gate gave way and fans spilled on to the pitch causing the game to be stopped with a couple of fans suffering minor injuries. Then the third goal went in via Gaetan Laborde's head and the Nimes fans unveiled the banner they had taken from Montpellier's stadium leading to a crowd commotion which saw the referee lead the players off the field as dozens of riot police (believed to be around 80) were required to hold back a section of Montpellier fans. A number of Montpellier players pleaded with the fans to calm down and the stadium announcer also tried to calm them down by warning them the team could be docked 3 points by the French league.
