Review of the Day

Contracts

Aleksandar Mitrovic has signed a new 5 year deal with Fulham despite their relegation at the end of last season.

Transfers

AS Roma have sold Stephan El Shaarawy to Shanghai Shenhua for around £18m.

Former Crystal Palace, Cardiff City, QPR, Birmingham City and Watford midfielder Jordon Mutch has been released by Korean side Gyeongnam FC.

Eibar have signed Roberto Olabe from Atletico Madrid.

Granada have released Raul Baena.

German striker Dennis Eckert has been released by Celta de Vigo.

Mikel Rico has joined Huesca from Athletic Bilbao.

Fiorentina have signed Italian goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano from FC Empoli.

Genoa have sent Argentine striker Claudio Spinelli on loan to Gimnasia.

Marko Arnautovic has completed his move to Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG from West Ham United for a fee over £20m.

Teenage left-back Mitchel Bakker has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer from Ajax.

Gerrard Dismisses Buy Option

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has dismissed rumours that there is a buy clause in the loan contract of midfielder Ross McCrorie to Portsmouth. Gerrard has insisted that the 21 year old still has a bright future with the Glaswegians saying: "There's no deal for him to go there permanent," Gerrard told Rangers TV. "It is a development loan. He told me he was desperate for 40-50 games and I agreed with him. I think that'll be really good for his development. I could have been selfish and kept him here as a squad player, but maybe being a squad player won't develop him or move him along as quick as we want. Portsmouth is a good club, Kenny Jacket plays the right way, the fans are demanding there and that will prepare him very well for the future here. He's our player and we want him here for a long time and we want to help him get to the next level. Hopefully he'll come back with 40-50 games under his belt, a better player ready to challenge the lads who've got the shirts. He's certainly one of ours and I've got big plans for Ross McCrorie."

Hands Off Morelos Warns Gerrard

Steven Gerrard has warned potential suitors off Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos, saying it would take "a really big offer" for Rangers to consider selling him. Gerrard said: "If he did end up going, he would be impossible to replace with days or weeks to go in the window. A million per cent, it won't happen late, that's for sure. So, if someone wants to spend a lot of money on a centre-forward and they want my centre-forward, they will have to come early. I can't control the speculation, but as a club we haven't got a decision to make because a bid hasn't come of any sort. Does anyone want Alfredo Morelos? I don't know, I can't answer that question, but if they do, they best bring a really, really big offer."

Last Chance Saloon For Mikel

Former Chelsea midfielder Jon Mikel Obi has confirmed this will be his final AFCON tournament as the Nigeria captain admits he is considering retiring from international football immediately after the tournament. Mikel said: "It's been an amazing ride for me in the national team. Thirteen years I think is enough. I've won trophies, I've had a lot of amazing time. I think it's time for these young guys to carry on. I'm mostly here in Egypt to support the young guys and make sure they're on the right track. I think my presence is always important for them, hopefully I can finish with the trophy."

Uganda Seek New Coach

Uganda has begun the search for a new national team head coach after Sebastian Desabre left the role following the country's exit from the Africa Cup of Nations. Uganda lost 1-0 to Senegal on Friday in the last-16, their first time in the knockout stages since 1978, but it was not enough for Desabres to hold on to his job.

Villa Agree Mings Fee

Aston Villa have agreed a £20m fee with Bournemouth for defender Tyrone Mings. Mings spent last season on loan with Villa, helping them to promotion back to the Premier League and is now set to complete a permanent move to the Birmingham side.

Egypt Sack Aguirre

Mexican coach Javier Aguirre has been sacked by Egypt after they were dumped out of the AFCON in Egypt by South Africa in the last-16. Egypt were pre-tournament favourites but lost 1-0 to a South African side seen as major outsiders. The South Africans had won just one match and lost 2 as they scraped through to the knockout stages.

Pogba Heads To Far East

Despite wanting to leave Manchester United and missing training this week, Paul Pogba has travelled with the squad to the far east for the club tour of Australia, Singapore and China. Fred and Matteo Darmian are yet to travel but are expected to join up with the squad later.

Brazil Lift Copa America

Despite the sending off of Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus, after he had scored and assisted, Brazil, unsurprisingly, beat Peru to win the Copa America 3-1, to give Brazil their first Copa America title in 12 years. Jesus had shown why he is such good friends with Neymar, as he reacted just like Neymar to his sending off with tears, followed by lashing out and kicking a water bottle and then pushing over the VAR monitor as he left the pitch.

Griezmann No Show

Antoine Griezmann has failed to turn up for pre-season at Atletico Madrid as the French striker looks to leave. Griezmann had warned that he would not turn up prior to the weekend. "Griezmann had an official summons to be at the club at 20.30 this Sunday and when he did not present himself, we opened a file and will study the case. He is under contract with our club until 2023 and must resume training tomorrow like all the other players."
