Injury Round-Up

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has withdrawn from the England squad due to illness. England manager Gareth Southgate told ITV he would not be calling up a replacement.

 


Swans To Face Legal Action

Swansea City Supporters' Trust have voted in favour of taking legal action against the 2016 sale of the club. 81.8% of those who voted were in favour of legal action after the Trust claimed it was excluded from negotiations over teh sale of the club. A Trust statement read: "While the Swans Trust is preparing to proceed with issuing court proceedings as a result of well-known complaints resulting from the sale of the football club, it has always been the preference of the Trust to resolve all issues outside of court. While there has been no communication from the other parties in recent months, our door remains open for future dialogue to resolve this issue, in the interests of all parties and particularly the football club, although we are almost in stoppage time if there are to be negotiations before court proceedings are issued."

 


Eto'o Announces Retirement

Former Barcelona, Real Madrid, Espanyol, Leganes, Mallorca, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Everton and Sampdoria forward, among others, Samuel Eto'o has gone into retirement after a 22 year playing career. The 38 year old, who captained his country Cameroon to two World Cups as well as representing them in another two, has said he will be moving on to a new challenge.

 


Barca Rule Out January Move For Neymar

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has ruled out the club making a move for Neymar Jr in January. Barca had tried to to re-sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, but were unwilling to meet PSG's demands for a player they paid a world record fee of £200m for. Bartomeu also claimed they were not expecting him to become available in the summer so he was not a main target for the club. He told the club's own TV channel: "Barca had already planned their squad. The opportunity to sign Neymar was one that came up in the market. His signing was an extra, it wasn't planned." Bartomeu also said Neymar tried everything to force the move to Barca saying: "Neymar did everything possible because it was what he wanted. I think now he has another strategy, another project and this season he will play for PSG."

 


Watford Return To Flores

Bottom of the Premier League table Watford have sacked Javi Gracia and brought Quique Sanchez Flores back as manager. Watford have just one point this season after losing 3 of 4 games and Watford chairman Scott Duxbury said: "Javi has represented Watford with great dignity and will always be deserving of our fullest respect for his achievements." Just 30 minutes later they announced the return of Flores.

 


Icardi Wants To Stay With Inter

Despite going out on loan to Paris Saint-Germain for the season, Mauro Icardi's wife and agent Wanda Nara has said the Argentine wants to return at the end of the season. Nara said: "Inter needed to sell Icardi. As captain, Mauro would never have left the club. It was a strategy to sell him. In January, he refused to transfer to another team. I won't tell the team's name. The other player, however, came to Milan, but not to Inter... [Icardi] replied: 'I am the captain and I will not leave this team'. That's when the relationship broke. They had another idea. He likes playing in Italy, he knows the league well. I think he will come back. I don't know where and how. Inter will always be the priority. [There have been] many misunderstandings, but the desire to play for Inter and the love of the fans remains. There are crises in a long relationship. In the end we leave each other with a repaired relationship, without any betrayal."

 


Sankhare Barred From Bordeaux

Girondins Bordeaux have locked Younousse Sankhare out of their parking lot and locker rooms for a week as part of a suspension without any official reason being given. Sankhare only found out when he was unable to enter the club's car park on Thursday. Sankhare had been expected to join Leganes in the summer but a move fell through. Sankhare was later summoned to a meeting with the club president and a bailiff in attendance.
