Injury Round-Up

Nir Bitton claims he got out of a wheelchair to play for Israel against Scotland, despite his club manager Neil Lennon ruling him out. Bitton said: "Even the day after the injury, I told the medical staff at Celtic that I wanted to give myself a chance. I twisted my ankle very badly away in Bosnia and I didn't believe I could make it. On the way back home on Friday, I was on crutches, I was in a wheelchair and I couldn't even walk on the foot, but I wasn't going to rule myself out of the game until I knew that I couldn't play." The midfielder has now tested positive for CV.

Slovakia winger Jaroslav Mihalik has been ruled out of the Nations League game against Scotland due to a positive CV test.

Newport County are searching for a striker in the transfer market after losing Ryan Taylor for 12 weeks with a hamstring injury.

Leeds United central defensive duo Liam Cooper and Diego Llorente have picked up injuries while away on international duty.

Inter Milan now have 6 players in self-isolation following news that former Manchester United player Ashley Young has tested positive.

Managerial Changes

Disciplinary Charges

Gibson Ups Rangers Stake

Stuart Gibson has increased his shareholding in Rangers to 8% after the club recently held a share issue which raised about £8.5m. Gibson was the biggest investor in it with a £5m input and has now got the 4th largest stake in the club. Former chairman Dave King, current chairman Douglas Park and George Taylor are the three largest shareholders. Park and Taylor are partners with George Letham in the Three Bears consortium which bought a combined total of £2.7m new shares in the issue.

Scots Add Trio

Scotland have called up a trio of new faces ahead of the two Nations League games against Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Aberdeen midfielder Ross McCrorie and Dons teammate Andrew Considine, along with Hibernian right-back Paul McGinn are all receiving their first call ups. McCrorie and McGinn both have brothers who were named in their initial squad.

MBE For Rashford

Manchester United and England forward Marcus Rashford has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list. The 22 year old has been campaigning for the government to allow over a million children to receive free school meal vouchers over the summer holidays.

Premier League Proposals

Liverpool and Manchester United have put forward proposals for a change in the make up of the English top flight. The plan is to reduce the division to 18 teams from the 20 it now consists of, as well as giving the Football League the £250m bailout requested. On top of the, 25% of future Premier League income would be handed over to the English Football League and the Community Shield and EFL Cup would be scrapped. A Premier League statement has criticised the plans saying: "English football is the world's most watched, and has a vibrant, dynamic and competitive league structure that drives interest around the globe. To maintain this position, it is important that we all work together. Both the Premier League and the FA support a wide-ranging discussion on the future of the game, including its competition structures, calendar and overall financing particularly in light of the effects of Covid-19. Football has many stakeholders, therefore this work should be carried out through the proper channels enabling all clubs and stakeholders the opportunity to contribute. In the Premier League's view, a number of the individual proposals in the plan published today could have a damaging impact on the whole game and we are disappointed to see that Rick Parry, chair of the EFL, has given his on-the-record support. The Premier League has been working in good faith with its clubs and the EFL to seek a resolution to the requirement for Covid-19 rescue funding. This work will continue." All I can say is that anything Rick Parry thinks is a good idea is definitely not a good idea, judging by his time at Liverpool: Rick Parry The Embodiment Of The Peter Principle.
