Swindon Ownership Battle Continues

Swindon Town have been stuck in the middle of a long battle over ownership of the club, as current owner Lee Power faces action by the FA over allowing an agent to own a large chunk of the club's holding company. Clem Morfuni, one of the directors at Swindon, has gone to the High Court in an attempt to take control over the club and, after winning the first stage in court, Morfuni has applied to take the English Football League's owners' and directors' test. The courts have ordered Power to sell, which have led to him cutting off funding and the club faces problems after not paying players in June, the manager and his assistant quitting just a month into the job, also in June, and the local council threatening court action over many months of unpaid rent for the County Ground. With Morfuni having first refusal on the shares, the court ordering Power to sell to him and having the backing of Swindon's supporters' trust, it is unclear what is holding up the sale, though both men of course blame the other for the delay. In recent days the pair even took to social media to argue over who is at fault.
