Football News: Ideas For New Wolverhampton Wanderers Players

At the end of the 23/24 season we lined up: Sa, Semedo, Kilman, Dawson, Toti, RAN, Lemina, Gomes, Hwang, Cunha, Neto.

As of this moment only 3 of them are likely to be playing for us next season - just over 12 months later. We have added Emmanuel, Andre and JSL as definitive first 11 players so are some 5 short of a strong first 11.

Given we were always short on depth and will probably, presumably, hopefully lose a few of the weaker members of the squad, we probably need to add another 5 squad players as well.

Although it is possible that Bueno, Yerson and Bellegarde / Munetsi might now be regarded as first 11 players we still need to add circa 10 new players.

Given the impossibility of getting every transfer correct, we probably need to be signing something like a minimum of 15 new players over the summer! That is some task!

Obviously we have no idea of the budget - wages and fees - but let's assume we will spend circa £150m and wages won't be a problem as we will not be signing established stars from major sides i.e. players already earning high wages. Nevertheless we will need to be careful and find some bargains / frees!

Going forwards then:

GK: Sa/new - would have loved Kelleher (as number 1 and sold Sa to help fund ) but missed out.

RWB: New/Lima - don't think Lima is ready (No idea for first choice but left field suggestion of Tanganga of Millwall - release clause of £1.2m low wages homegrown v physical prospect as back up who can play both CB/RB).

CBs: - New/Emmanuel/Toti Back ups Yerson/ 2 new preferably at least one left sided- (Robert Renan on loan from Zenit ( issues?). Doc/Bueno/Djiga as, (at the moment), 7th or 8th best options at best. Maybe Bueno sold or Djiga loaned out.

RWB: - New/Bueno If we think Bueno is the number 1 then Serge Reguilon on a free is a v good LWB not so solid defensively apparently but would be an experienced back up?

Midfield: Andre/Gomes - back ups New / Traore or Doyle assuming neither moving on.

Forwards: New / JSL / New - huge ask here as we are looking v short of goals and creativity. Back ups Bellegarde / New / Munetsi - assuming Hwang and Guedes move on and Sasa retires injured.
