Wolverhampton Wanderers: Sliding Toward the Abyss

How deep a hole will Wolverhampton Wanderers find themselves in next season? Sadly, I think we all know the answer - very, very deep.

At this rate, relegation to the Championship feels less like a possibility and more like an inevitability. When that happens, the financial consequences will be brutal. We'll lose the Premier League money, the television money, and the sponsorship deals that go hand in hand with top-flight status. Those revenue streams are the only things keeping our heads above water right now - because let's be honest, Fosun have effectively stopped funding the club.

The Fosun Problem?

There's a reason Wolves are the last remaining British club under Chinese ownership. Read that Birmingham City, and even Aston Villa all came close to financial disaster under similar setups. The warning signs have been there for years, but the club kept pretending everything was fine.

The reality? Once that Premier League safety net is gone, the situation gets ugly. I genuinely believe we'll lose practically the entire first-team squad, bar a few substandard players who no one else will want.

Who Stays, Who Goes?

You can bet players like Sa, Johnston, Jackson, Aga, Mosquera, Santi, Krechi, Toti, Hugo Bueno, Lopez, Arias, Andre, Joao Gomes, Hwang, JSL, Bellegarde, and Wolfe will all be off. None of them will want to spend next season slogging it out in the Championship.

The only one I can realistically see staying is Tolu - and I really hope he does. He's got the talent and physicality to tear that division apart if he's given the chance.

The Fear of a Double Drop:

My genuine fear is that we don't just go down - we keep falling. Anyone who thinks that's an overreaction should go and watch Sunderland 'Til I Die. That's exactly what happens when an uninterested ownership group pulls the plug.

Jeff Shi gets plenty of stick, and to be fair, a lot of it is deserved. He's said some ridiculous things over the years. But he's not the real problem - he's just the face of it, the well-paid puppet sent out to take the flak while Fosun quietly step back and count the losses.

A Club Adrift:

Vitor Pereira looked like he was trying to get himself sacked for a nice payoff. That bizarre starting eleven last match said it all - confused, uninspired, and desperate.

It's a sad situation. Wolves fans have seen dark days before, but this time it feels different. The foundations are crumbling, the leadership is invisible, and the hope is fading fast. Unless something drastic changes soon, next season could be the start of a very long fall.
