Football News: City close in on Negredo

Sevila president Jose Maria Del Nido has claimed Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo is of to English clubs Manchester City after telling the clubs official website that they are close on the sale of the player.City are looking to add more depth to there striking options after selling striker Carlos Tevez to Juventus.

Negredo was the highest scoring Spaniard in La Liga last season netting 25 goals for Sevilla becoming the clubs top scorer in the process.Negredo is the 2nd high profile departure at Sevilla this summer with fellow Spaniard and star player Jesus Navas also joining City with Sevilla has to sell there assets to raise money.

Del Nido announced the deal through the Sevilla official website stating "We are about to close on the sale of the player and, if everything goes normally and everything is signed, he will soon say goodbye to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan."Manchester City are buying a great player, the top-scoring Spaniard in La Liga.

"This is a big deal for Sevilla, the second most important in our history after we sold Daniel Alves to Barcelona, and the player will sign the contract of his life."Everyone should be happy; it is a great deal for all three parties."
